Yes, but enforcing the subpoena is the real trick.

No it’s not. I just linked to a Forbes article that makes it very clear it’s fine to fire your ex-spouse as long as you treat them fairly (with severance notice etc) on the way out.dastardly stem wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 2:24 amMy mind feels all twisted up on this now. Ultimately it appears Dehlin begged her to leave so he could be free of the affair, and she was, as she felt it, forced out (there's no sign she was going to be brought back). That is sexual harassment in the work place.

Not sure your spouse and your adulterous naked ‘sexual interaction’ really is the same thing under the law.warbreaker wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 2:33 amNo it’s not. Why not. Can you cite a law somewhere where they care if you are harassing an ex-spouse vs ex boyfriend vs ex affair? I haven’t seen any law re:sexual harassment that makes that distinction.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 2:45 amNot sure your spouse and your adulterous naked ‘sexual interaction’ really is the same thing under the law.warbreaker wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 2:33 am

Are you saying the law says it’s okay to fire someone after a consensual sexual relationship ends, but only if that person is your spouse? Can you cite a source on this?dastardly stem wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 2:47 amSpouse? Not following here.warbreaker wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 2:33 am

I don't believe Forbes is the ultimate authority on anything and I don't think "fine" would be a word I would use in this context. Perhaps, "customary" would be a better word as in it is customary to have an ex sign a severance agreement when let go and receive severance payments because perhaps the other ex who remains may well have done something questionable during the relationship that might warrant a legal settlement some day if the fired ex sued. Exes have a tendency to mislead and lie when confronted, both those let go and those who remain. So, the prudent thing to do is to essentially buy silence as one cannot always trust the exes.warbreaker wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 2:33 amNo it’s not. Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

Employment in most states is at will. While obviously the Forbes article is not legally binding, it establishes that there is nothing illegal about firing your ex after a messy breakup. Now there may be other things here that rise to the level of sexual harassment, but being in a consensual relationship with your boss, ending said relationship, then being terminated is not sexual harassment by itself.Dr Exiled wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 3:59 am
