And if it does fire, and one is shot in the guts, one says what to God exactly?

It's not hard, Chap.

Good stuff happens = God gets the credit.
Bad stuff happens = Who the heck are you to blame God?

It's a good gig.

actually, good or bad..God gets the credit, that has always been the position of a Christian....what you describe is typical atheist balderdash.

Does a Christian give credit to God for the fall? For the holocaust?

As I read God's reply to Job, "Who the heck are you?" is a pretty good summary. ;-)

was my post really that confusing? exactly what did you misunderstand?

not a good summary at all...more likely an indication that you did not actually read the book.

The Atheist would've recognized through is critical thinking skills that he either had to disarm the robber, or run away because of the threat presented. Whether he gets shot or not is a matter of skill on the part of the robber.

what jam?

after reading this post, clearly we see Dr.CamNC4Me as not a believer, obviously leaving....

(so much for critical thinking skills...another option is to shoot the robber)

Hello Sub-Genius,

Who said the victims were armed? You make a good point, however. Perhaps the Robber forgot to load his gun? Perhaps the Robber failed to disengage the safety, if, indeed there is a safety? Maybe the story Little Nipper shared should have gone this way:

A would be robber pulls out a gun and pulls the trigger. The gun refuses to fire due to improper firearms preparedness on behalf of the robber. There could've been many reasons why his gun didn't fire. There could be a round in the chamber that needs clearing, the weapon's safety wasn't disengaged, the robber failed to load ammunition, or some other mysterious reason why this assailant failed at his attempted murder.

The fool says, "Ain't I the lucky one." Meanwhile the robber quickly assesses the situation and failing to fix his weapon's malfunction assaults the fool, and takes his money.

The believer says, "Thank you God. Meanwhile the robber quickly assesses the situation and failing to fix his weapon's malfunction assaults the fool, and takes his money.

The Atheist recognized through critical thinking skills that he either had to attack the robber in self-defense, or run away because of the threat presented. In this case the Atheist saw the robber was wearing a crucifix, unkempt, and was visibly overweight. He chose to run to safety, and alert the authorities. The authorities found the robber two blocks away having assaulted to other individuals who exclaimed, "I'm so lucky I didn't get shot. " and "Thank you God."

The perp was arrested, and charged with multiple felonies. He was eventually sent to prison where he could no longer rob people on the street for the next 40-150 years with early release possible for good behavior.

Thanks to the Atheist's quick thinking, and civic-mindedness a criminal was taken off the streets making it safer for everyone.

Your fantasy is not without entertainment...but it does lack plausibility

Nipper's tale is quite sufficient as is...as to its point.
For the fool may well have exclaimed "i am lucky" and then either been assaulted by the robber or apprehended the robber or countless other post-exclamation scenarios...all of which have little to do with the point.
Obviously the same holds true for the believer with whatever post-exclamation scenario one would like to imagine.
That being said - your argument continues to reinforce the sentiment of the fool.
Your verbose response and self-serving desire to "edit" the original tale simply accentuates the point of the tale itself....the fool part.

but i do appreciate that you were demonstrating critical thinking by contradiction rather than the usual and bland method of competency.

Hello Sub-Genius,

I have no idea what you're saying. Your thoughts are incoherently expressed, your grammar is atrocious, and your syntax betrays your synoptic shortcomings. I feel sorry for you. :(

then my apologies.

oversimplification to follow:

1. whatever happens after the gun does not fire is irrelevant.
2. you have displayed little, if any, critical thinking with your posts on the matter.
3. Atheists are predominately foolish.
