Is God a Mormon?

Post by _moksha »

Well, I heard for a fact in my LDS Gospel Doctrine Class that Adam was a Mormon and I assume that somewhere there has been LDS speculation that God and Jesus were also Mormon.

So what is the scoop of this?

by the way, as Mormons, would the current Church President preside if they were all in a meeting?

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.

I'm not sure that God's religion is recorded in Mormon doctrine anywhere.

As I understand it, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the name of the group of individuals who believe that they are the only religionists to follow (and be officially authorised to follow) the true and accurate teachings of Jesus Christ on planet Earth. So, according to Mormon doctrine, it would be accurate to state that Mormons (Latter Day Saints) believe that Jesus is currently a Mormon, but necessarily God. When Jesus was first on the earth His organization was not given a specific label, and the Prophet Mormon did not yet exist, and so I think people that followed his teachings were referred to as the Church of Christ - which would make Jesus a Christian!

It may be that God oversee's other planets with other Jesus's and the name for their followers might be Bazooka's after the Prophet Bazooka on the planet Mahumbug. So God would have to be both Mormon and Bazooka and also all the other labels from all the other planets which denote the specific, officially authorised, followers of their Jesus equivalent. The Celestial Kingdom would therefore be a smorgasbord of differing religions, all with the commonality of believing in one God, with lots of different Jesus's. I realise that might cause confusion and contention over who was most right. Because if our Jesus was God's firstborn, then the other world's saviours would have to be the second or third borns etc which doesn't sound as important and would prompt the other worlds to question why they weren't valiant enough to deserve the firstborn and where did the firstborn go etc. Or perhaps it means the one Jesus has been sent to lots of different planets who all nailed Him up, in which case He must be feeling a little disillusioned with His dad.
That said, with the Book of Mormon, we are not dealing with a civilization with no written record. What we are dealing with is a written record with no civilization. (Runtu, Feb 2015)
