From ''Weber St. fires prof b/c wife criticized BKP building''

Post by _ludwigm »

It is simple.
Kick out all who protests.

We had an airport, called FERIHEGY. A 200 year old name of that area.
Ferihegy is the name of the neighbourhood around the airport. The name is derived from that of Ferenc Xavér Mayerffy (1776–1845), the former owner of an estate who established vineyards and contributed to the development of viticulture in Pest-Buda. "Feri" is a diminutive form of Ferenc while "hegy" means hill. In fact the area is almost totally flat but originally there was a 147 m high sandy hillock which was levelled in the 1940s during the constructions works of the airport.
Ferenc is a given name of Hungarian origin. It is a cognate of Francis, Francisco, François, and Franz.

The PREVIOUS first minister was Ferenc Gyurcsány. (Warning: OTHER PARTY)
FERENC. FERENC. FERENC. Got it?

Our beloved mini-Mussolini, Viktor Orbán said it must be renamed.
It became Liszt Ferenc Airport.

Franz Liszt (German: [fʁant͡s lɪst]; Hungarian: Liszt Ferencz; October 22, 1811 – July 31, 1886), in modern use Liszt Ferenc (Hungarian pronunciation: [list ˈfɛrɛnt͡s]); from 1859 to 1867 officially Franz Ritter von Liszt,[n 2] was a 19th-century Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist, conductor, teacher, and Franciscan.

The apropos I wrote about Ferihegy was the controversy around the renaming - and removing/firing some officials...
Name
Originally called Budapest Ferihegy International Airport (Budapest Ferihegy Nemzetközi Repülőtér), on 25 March 2011 it was officially renamed Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, in honour of the Hungarian pianist and composer Franz Liszt (Modern Hungarian: Liszt Ferenc.) The change caused some controversy because the Committee of Geographical Names, which is the sole competent body in (re)naming geographical objects, suggested another version – Liszt Ferenc Nemzetközi Repülőtér, Budapest–Ferihegy – in order to keep the historical name. In retaliation, the chairman and several members of the committee were removed, two of them were fired. Popularly, the airport is still called Ferihegy as before.

Or are You interested in Liszt?

Actually, I wanted to hear about the Weber State professor, however I do like Hungarian composers.

Isn't it neat that they would name a university after Max Weber?

by the way, the finalist names for the new Weber State building were:

1. Boyd K. and Donna S. Packer Center

2. Alfred P. and Margaret W. Bundy Center

3. Adolfus and Eva B. Snicklgruber Center

4. Ferdinand E. and Imelda R. Marcos Center

Interesting.

I've made a parallel of individuals who were fired
- as professor at Weber, for criticizing to name something after BKP
- as members of the Committee of Geographical Names for do the same (... against a reborn of Mussolini, our beloved prime minister ...)

You've made a parallel of Packer and a certain mr. Schicklgruber

And there is an automatic parallel of Mussolini and that Sch~~ guy.

by the way
A tourist - gazing at a statue of a horseman - asks a denizen:
- Who is he?
- He is {#&@} ! (something totally ununderstandable and unpronounceable bunch of sounds for a stranger)
- What did he do to get a statue?
- Died for king and country.

Not this statue...

Moderators can move anything to offtopic, by calling them as such.

Common members can quote - socalled - offtopic things on terrestrial.

new and improved "This is the place" monument?

well I am almost sure that is not what it really is but a brief glace at the hills momentarily tricked me.

I am getting myself a tiny chuckle imaging the horseman as a BY portrait.
