Isaiah 5:20

Post by _subgenius »

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"

As is the current assault on family by the LGBT under the guise of "equality" and "tolerance" was not revealing of this prophecy, note the following:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutd ... 25540.html

"We can't imagine that there would be anyone purchasing a Hernandez jersey with the intent of wearing it at Gillette Stadium this season. Those buying these jerseys are likely collectors looking to sell these memorabilia items for potential sales in the future."

Memorabilia? who would consider the symbolic gesture of admiration from a jersey to be an appropriate item as the object of said "memory" and "admiration" sits in a jail charged with murder and likely to face more charges?

Collectors surely cannot justify the jump in price, especially since admitted fans Hernandez would be happy to sell their for 99 cents...so what is it then?...i would speculate that it is the persistent "thug" culture....the fascination, nay...the tolerance that has emerged in society for things that are simply bad...just as homosexual activity is being pulled out into the light (something they love to do) and glamorized.....
.... so now is celebrity crime good?

Sports memorabilia value isn't determined by how morally good the player was. It's determined by the rarity of the item, its presentability, and the player's notoriety or impact on the sport. The false premise animating this argument is that memorabilia is a symbolic gesture of admiration. It can be, but it doesn't have to.

What is animating this argument is bigotry.

there is no reason not to make the comparison.

perhaps one could realize that the term "memorabilia" is somewhat specific in its application within the sports world.
The argument is not solely based on moral admiration. It is also based on "value" - perceived value in this example is obviously "good" and is being driven by something which is "bad"....thus the OP.

The irony of your use of the word "notoriety" is not lost.
