Would your opinion of the confrontation swing the other way? Or would you maintain that GZ could have found some other way to escape TM than shooting him?
If GZ had actually witnessed TM committing a crime, had openly confronted him with his gun, and TM charged him, then my opinion would be the same as the Roderick case. It still troubles me, and I wish that Roderick had found some other option, but I think it is much more reasonable to assume the teenager, caught committing a crime, charging at an openly armed man, likely was armed himself and intended to use it.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
Why is it a good thing that the man in the Roderick case was charged immediately? in my opinion, if the detectives know or prosecutor knows there is not enough evidence to convict someone, than why waste the taxpayers money by incarcerating him and charging him with a crime? I think the prosecution lost some credibility by overcharging GZ. As I understand legal ethics, it's not ethical for a prosecutor to overcharge as if you're bargaining at a pawn shop just to see what might stick.
We always wish there was another way when someone dies. But I think our judgments of what someone should have done in a situation are imperfect because we weren't personally in the situation. We didn't have to make the decision in a split second.

And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

BUZZ liar..... One witness saw Trayvon on top of Zimmerman and flailing his arms and hands in a downward motion as if he was punching someone.
Others did not say GZ was on top.... One said "after" the gunshot he was then seen on top, and the other just said "dark clothing", not at all a reliable statement. Because depending on location red can look dark in the dark. Further, it's not unreasonable that at "some point" Martin was able to be on top.
Further, please use your brain for a change. Zimmerman DID NOT BEAT HIS OWN HEAD INTO THE CONCRETE causing blood in several places to come out. So quit with this Zimmerman was on top malarkey. Trayvon would have had to have been on top to cause wounds on the back of Zimmerman's head.
One other thing..... Has any of you bothered to see what wounds were on Trayvon other than the gunshot? ZERO ZERO ZERO....

You know I think a lot of what these two cases I mentioned comes down to is the question, "Can you confront people you suspect of stealing or can you not?" If you confront them or tell them, "Don't move. Wait until the police get here," there's a good chance there's going to be violence. If thieves know that their prey is unarmed and forbidden by law to interfere, well I'm not sure I want to be alive for that kind of world.

Thank you, cam. I regret that this conversation became acrimonious between us, because I generally agree with you as well.
But maybe a heated disagreement now and then isn't a bad thing. We should all exercise some skeptism about our own opinions.

Meh. We're good. I thnk it's healthy to argue over idealogicL points. That's the point of this democracy. I respect you very much. Even if you're wrong on TM. :)
