Zimmerman didn't "stand his ground against a thug." He brought a gun to a fist fight against a minor who was just minding his own business and won. A kid he had been stalking no less.

Not the facts of the case. Martin turned around and ambushed Zimmerman committing felonious assault in the process. That was the first and only crime committed in this case.

Clearly you don't understand or appreciate Islamic sharia. This is not normal in all countries, but quite the norm in Islamic countries. This is because women don't have equal rights with men and neither do non-Muslims with Muslims. That's why the court did what it did.

It's actually is quite normal for an alleged victim of rape to be put on trial - meaning having her credibility and character as the focus of the trial - as a defense against rape. Until the advent of rape shield laws (which I think are too broad, incidentally) it was a standard part of any respectable rape defense to question witnesses to establish the victim was a slut. The federal rape shield law was passed in 1994.

That's common in the United States. Perhaps you didn't understand what I was saying. The difference here is twofold. One, until like the Western world, drinking alcohol is illegal and she was found guilty of that. The article argues the law is selectively enforced, but that pretty much exactly parallels how drug laws are throughout the Western world - marijuana in particular - so I ignored that. The second is that she along with the man as guilty of premarital sex. This is unlike most of the Western world and a problem. So I condemned that and granted as an area that requires catching up. Premarital sex shouldn't be a crime.

I don't care that your thread title is the title of the article. It's misleading and you uncritically repeated it. It is not the case that being raped is a punishable offense in Dubai. If you think that anytime a woman who alleges someone is guilty of rape and that person goes unpunished, but the woman is found guilty of some crime, that means getting raped in that country is a punishable offense, then you can just as easily assert this of the United States. That totally happens.

(by the way, the defense's case against rape in this case was that allegedly she told the authorities initially that the sex was consensual. If that's the case, that's a pretty solid defense against rape.)
