I think there's a reason for his dishonesty. I think it has something to do with the fact that there are certain questions he not only refuses to answer, but altogether refuses to acknowledge. One of these questions is this: Where did you serve your mission? His behavior is possibly an attempt to assuage his embarrassment over never having served a mission, or having been sent home early from his mission.

Yes there is reason for his and other apologists dishonesty. They cannot really hope to defend the Book of Abraham, or things like a global flood. So he tries to defend indirectly by going after irrelevancies as Brad caught him doing. Is he really to stupid to understand the main thrust of the OP. Maybe, but I doubt it, or he would probably be trying to defend Joseph Smith in more direct ways like a few idiots do.

.

[ apologist mode on]
Explanation 1. There were flood, and Egypt was re-populated from approximately 2400 B.C. to 2340 B.C.
And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan. These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.
... in narrowish one century. Noah's family have bred like rabbits. There should be a better explanation.

Explanation 2. The flood wasn't global. Egypt was out of it.
Something the Bible and church manuals forgot to mention.
One more step?

Explanation 3. The kings of Fifth Dynasty of Egypt sent up their people to the pyramids they built.
At least this must have explained someway. That kings ruled from 2494 BC to 2345 BC - approximately during the flood. And those kings are better documented than the Book of Mormon's ones.

Remain the fact; there was no flood, and the world was not repopulated.

Within 60 years?
Egypt was repopulated by 8 people who were across the ocean in America (where the church teaches it landed) within 60 years.....

Yes, these little irrelevances are all he has. He'll strain at a gnat but he'll swallow a camel. It's hard to imagine that he's truly unaware of how transparent his games are. It's fairly obvious that the entire point to this thread is the legitimacy of the Book of Abraham, not whether someone can find an ancient image of a knife.

Surprise, surprise, there is no divine mandate for the Church to discuss and portray its history accurately.

He's just provided (upthread) evidence that there wasn't!
Albeit completely unwittingly.

Exactly. His complete lack of self-awareness is more than a little bizarre.

Here's a nifty pdf download that discusses the absence of evidence saying. link

TL/DR;

Abstract: Under what conditions is the failure to have evidence that p, evidence that p is false? Absent evidence reasoning is common in many sciences, includ- ing astronomy, archeology, biology and medicine. An often-repeated epistemo- logical motto is that “the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.” Analysis of absent evidence reasoning usually takes place in a deductive or fre- quentist hypothesis-testing framework. Instead, a Bayesian analysis of this motto is explored and it is shown that, under plausible assumptions about the nature of evidence, the absence of evidence is evidence of absence.

your own post does not require any "from the BOOK of the DEAD".
Goal was scored right where you placed the goalpost.

again you wrote
"I'd even like to see any picture that from a pryamid text or a coffin text that shows anyone"

and now you have seen "any picture"

check your arrogance it demeans your already futile point.

if you check this thread closely you will discover that Bazooka is the one claiming there was a flood and has provided his own evidence for that claim (with dates!). So, perhaps you have mistakenly asked me to prove Bazooka's claim.

So, by the logic of your claim:
God is powerful enough to flood the earth but is unable to repopulate Egypt within a certain time period.....got it!

besides, i appreciate the honesty in the date, of the circumcision image, being listed as "circa".

good luck on your thread derail
