Camels as a Biblical Anachronism

Post by _moksha »

Where were the Camels if they were not around during biblical times?

I think I can help out on this point. Prior to their arrival in the Middle East, these were a New World animal known as the Curloms. Once their beloved Nephites were wiped out due to their continuing pro-war stance, the Curloms were constantly reminded of their sorrow through their surroundings. Thus began the Exodus. History is fuzzy on this point, but apparently they set sail from either the Port of New York, or the Graisequetal Havens in the Yucatan. They sailed to the embarkation place of the Nephites, the harbor of Nahom. They took up residence here and spread throughout the Middle East. They became friends with the nomadic natives, who called them Al Curlom. Over the centuries, this name transformed into the variation Cam-al, meaning "great help to those who wear turbans". In exchange for this help, Allah granted each of them a choice: One hump or two.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I'm sure that's how it happened.

Excellent apologetic for that problem, Moksha. I have puzzled and puzzled over the absence of the camel in the Book of Mormon, yet the presence of humpless camels in South America.

EXCELLENCE.

Moksha deserves the BHRoberts award for ambivalent Mormon Apologetics.
Problems with auto-correct:
In Helaman 6:39, we see the Badmintons, so similar to Skousenite Mormons, taking over the government and abusing the rights of many.

Have you got the hump with me?
That said, with the Book of Mormon, we are not dealing with a civilization with no written record. What we are dealing with is a written record with no civilization. (Runtu, Feb 2015)
