I don't think hat type of thing will help win over the hearts and minds of the sincere lurkers that I know pay attention to sites like this and are truly in a spiritual crisis at the moment.

Even though I've lurked here for, literally, years, I don't know 100% who is for real and who just antagonizes. (Some are blatantly obvious.) My own belief is that religion, any religion, should have at it's core learning compassion; practicing empathy.

I had hoped that Yahoo Bot might try to place himself in the shoes of another. I asked him some questions that I'm hoping he'll answer, but wondering if it's a wasted effort. ?

Sometimes people don't respond because they just didn't see the post. Sometimes, they just ignore the post. I've asked plenty of questions (not just of Yahoo Bot, but of others) that have gone unanswered too. And yes, sometimes it's hard to know who is for real and who isn't.
There are some who call me...Tim.

I have never once heard of a missionary who was unable to come home because he or she lacked the bread or the passport.

again. your delusions and smoke are pure BS. you twist things on a word and evade the real arguments. because a missionary didn't call you personally and say they couldn't afford a ticket does not mean it never happened, ass. you are being trollish. and it does put you in the same camp as your buddy bcspace. is that what it takes to be a "believer?" does it require a twisted and nearly insane inability to engage in conversations on an adult level?
"Rocks don't speak for themselves" is an unfortunate phrase to use in defense of a book produced by a rock actually 'speaking' for itself... (I have a Question, 5.15.15)

For me the issue of frequency or the percentage of people who are being prescribed these drugs is only relevant because, as usual, the church is at least 15 years if not more, behind the times when it comes to a big issue that affects it's membership.

I'm sure the MP's wife heard the talk on mental illness in conference last year, but the rhetoric over the years that one is depressed because they don't read the scriptures, haven't confessed a sin, don't pray hard enough, are not obeying the commandments, need to pull themselves up by their boot straps... did I miss any? these are what seems to have stuck with her, and with many.

And sometimes, you have asked a question of a sociopath who is incapable of empathy.

Yahoo Bot wrote:My point above has been made, once again. Counseling, lecturing, cajoing, guilting, hectoring is part of religious faith. If you don't want to be hectored by your rabbi, then get out.
Runtu wrote:And you've just shown once again that you have trouble understanding how real humans operate. I'm not sure why.
Sethbag wrote:I'll defend Bot on this one. None of what Bot said on this is wrong, IMHO. He may overstate the ability of some adults to make those decisions for their own reasons rather than the reasons they were conditioned to follow, but that's true of all sorts of things in life.

Interestingly, a few minutes before I've answered something to Runtu in another thread, about a totalitary environment.

Unfortunately, most of the people who was hectored --- I learned one more beautiful, vividly descriptive word --- by their "rabbi" (read as prophet&seer&revelator or Führer) are not able to get out.

Ok, ok, I know, I know, Godwin's law again...
