Dietrich Bonhoeffer was truly a twentieth century saint. A Lutheran pastor who earned his PhD at age 21, wrote, preached, and joined in the German resistance against Hitler (for which he was executed shortly before the end of the war) wrote some interesting christological articles against the humanistic reductionism we see among liberal "scholars" in Christian (and I might add, Mormon) circles. For those interested in a scholarly treatment of Christology, I provide this link:

Bonhoeffer was a gifted man who used his genius in service to God. I've read many books about Bonhoeffer, including Ebhard Bethge's, a monumental work that takes quite a while to wade through. Bonhoeffer had much he could have bragged about - but he never did! A humble man, a loving human being, who crossed swords with the Gestapo and was loved by other prisoners as he remained in his cell waiting for the outcome of the war...but his end came unexpectedly and quickly......I believe he was ready. "a camp doctor who witnessed Bonhoeffer's hanging described the scene: "The prisoners … were taken from their cells, and the verdicts of court martial read out to them. Through the half-open door in one room of the huts, I saw Pastor Bonhoeffer, before taking off his prison garb, kneeling on the floor praying fervently to his God. I was most deeply moved by the way this lovable man prayed, so devout and so certain that God heard his prayer. At the place of execution, he again said a prayer and then climbed the steps to the gallows, brave and composed. His death ensued in a few seconds. In the almost 50 years that I have worked as a doctor, I have hardly ever seen a man die so entirely submissive to the will of God." (http://www.christianitytoday.com/ch/131 ... ml?start=2)
I highly recommend him for study, especially to Mormons who are often left up in the air about what passes for LDS doctrine which always seems to be so often in flux.
