Mormon Night at Dodger Stadium....

Post by _Bazooka »

Over 4,500 members of the Church and their friends gathered in Los Angeles, California, Friday evening, June 27, for the annual Mormon Night at Dodger Stadium.

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Joining him on the field was his wife, Sister Susan Bednar.

Elder Jerry Garns, an Area Seventy, caught the ceremonial first pitch.

Kirby Heyborne, popular LDS actor, musician and comedian, and Erik Christensen, Emmy Award-winning television and film editor, sang the National Anthem.

In pre-game events, Primary children were invited to “take the field” with the Dodgers players as they took their positions at the beginning of the game. Each child was then given a baseball, which the player had signed for him or her.

Mormon Night at Dodger Stadium is the longest-running community event held by the Dodger organization and has gone for over 30 years. It is also the largest special event held by them. The Dodgers have frequently expressed their appreciation for the long-standing relationship .

Has a woman ever thrown the ceremonial first pitch on Mormon Night?

nobody cares.
Of all the President that have thrown out first pitches in all the baseball games ever...for well over 30 years....no woman has done that either...nor a Chinese man with a slight limp

so, yea...what a great inference...yawn

The St. Louis Cardinals had a 101 year old woman throw out the first pitch on her birthday in June.

from the mound or the grass?
"Rocks don't speak for themselves" is an unfortunate phrase to use in defense of a book produced by a rock actually 'speaking' for itself... (I have a Question, 5.15.15)

Hmmm, 4500 Mormon fans.

I guess Mormons must have gone off baseball since 2006 when 8000 fans attended. Our something like that.

First pitch ushers in 'Mormon Night'

During pre-game ceremonies, Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Presidency of the Seventy throws the first pitch for the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres on "Mormon Night," July 25, at Dodger Stadium. Elder Rasband supervises the North America West Area, which includes Southern California. More that 8,000 Church members were among the crowd of 51,334 that saw the Padres win, 7-3. "Mormon Night," held around Pioneer Day, is becoming a tradition at Dodger Stadium.
