Rosebud, obviously, you and John had a pretty serious falling out for all of this craziness to have happened. I'm sorry for what you have been through.

Maybe I'm the only one in the dark here, but I don't really know what the catalyst was that caused the split in your business partnership to begin with. Would you be willing to share what happened? If it is something that you have already shared somewhere else, would you mind providing a link?

Did JD actually claim credit for NOM? Above, it appeared to me that Jesse was talking about "NOM-ism" or a NOM movement, not NOM itself? If JD really claimed to be the initial player in the NOM phenomenon, that is a big problem. I was around back in the day, and as Equality noted above, that ain't how it was.

This is a very good reminder that the tendency to glom onto a charismatic figure is not something that TBMs have a copyright on.

I've never claimed credit for NOM. Ever. Evidence?

Would you please explain why you deserve all the credit for Circling the Wagons, and John deserves none?

Also, could you expound on the comment you made about "the Mormon stories communities that I founded. ..."

Circling the Wagons was founded when I met with Joseph Broom and Doug Balls at Maddox restaurant and we decided to create the event together. Just ask Joseph Broom and Doug Balls...we originally referred to it as "Gay General Conference." Then I asked [real name deleted] (Rosebud) to help organize/run the event -- but it was an Open Stories Foundation project from start to finish -- and I was deeply and significantly involved from start to finish. [real name deleted] could never have made CTW happen without the Open Stories Foundation, and vice versa.

[real name deleted] did a great job organizing it (along with the help of many other people and volunteers) -- but it was a team effort. Did [real name deleted] do a good job organizing? Definitely. Was it a team effort? No question. To deny that is to deny reality.

No, I haven't shared what caused the split yet and I'd prefer not to. Not because I'm worried about sharing, I'm not anymore.... I've grown up a lot.... but because what I'd prefer is for things to just settle down. Life is great for me right now; I want to be able to forward my work without all these things continually getting in the way.

I would like to just be treated like everyone else, John.

I know I've said some things on here that you can't like being said, but it's not as if you haven't provoked and provoked and provoked.

I honestly thought that John was the originator of the NOM movement. I had not heard of the whole history behind NOM before Equality's explanation.

I was simply going by my own personal experience. When I went through my own crisis of faith a little over 10 years ago, I had heard the term, Cafeteria Mormon sort of thrown around on different websites like RfM, and kind of felt like that was where I fit in. Later, I read the PowerPoint presentations that John wrote on "the middle way", and I believe that the NOM term was used in that presentation. Since that was the first real formal writing I had seen on the subject, and since John was very pubic with his podcasts, Facebook groups, etc., I just honestly thought that he had founded NOM.

Obviously, after reading what Equality wrote, I see that I was mistaken.
