Re: John Dehlin Stake President update 8/23/14
Folks around here throw threats at each other all the time -- no surprise there. But the reason Rosebud has been described as "glen close-ish" on this thread is because of the words in her post (excerpts of which I quoted (and bolded) in my last post above). Her explicit threats went far over the line, in my opinion; to the point that any reasonable person reading that post would immediately think "stalker!" She needs help, and I hope she gets it.Mayan Elephant wrote:interesting that she is the only one considered to be glen close-ish when she was not alone.

It's pretty easy to understand why all these Dehlin threads got locked at NOM.

Equality and Mayan - I honestly don't see either of you as worthy of serious dialogue. I see you as disruptive cyber-thugs who only derive attention from other people's work/efforts...but who contribute nothing in and of yourselves. I have zero interest in engaging in meaningful dialogue with you. Not because I'm scared to do so...but because I see it as a complete waste of time. I may defend myself from time to time from your obsessions, but I won't lie. It makes me sad to think about what life you both must be leading to think that you have nothing better to do than to obsess about me.
Anyway...no. Won't engage. Not interested. But I do wish you both a better life. Certainly you can do better than this with your time. Or maybe not?
Adios for now.
Interesting.
Once there was an albino rattlesnake that had built its nest underneath a music store. Every so often, it would crawl through a hole behind the drum section of the store and would wander about, looking for action. Its favorite thing to do was rattle its tail so the people would notice its presence. Because it was a music store, people were accustomed to noises and sounds, and they stopped and listened and appreciated the rhythm and the beat of the rattle they heard. They beheld the snake's pure white beauty, and loved to see it make an appearance. Some even felt special when the snake approached them and longed for it every time they went to the music store.
But one guy--the guy who had worked in the guitar section for years--saw the snake and remembered all the people he had seen go into the private sound booth with the snake and never come back out. Once he realized this only happened when the snake went in with them, he began to watch the snake more closely. Sure enough, it happened only sometimes, just infrequently enough to not be that noticeable. Sure, some people over time had raised their voices and asked about their missing friends in the moment. But the snake soothed their fears with his sexy rattle, and his beautiful whiteness. The guitar salesman noticed that every time someone tried to harm the snake, people would rally around the snake and defend its beauty and its perfection. The guitar salesman remembered when he himself had loved the snake, having recorded multiple classic jam sessions with the snake, and he understood the desire to defend and protect this creature. But in the end, he couldn't sit idly by and watch innocent people get hurt. Every time he screamed "Snake! Watch out, he's not what he seems!" to everyone within hearing, most of them laughed and repeated over and over what a beautiful snake this was and how gentle and kind it had been to them. The snake heard the warning cries and began to compel his defenders to completely ostracize and distrust the lowly guitar salesman.
Before long, the guitar salesman started noticing that the snake was visiting other places like the diner, the grocery store, and the bar down the street. In each of these places, the noise level was high so the snake's rattle was subtle, and compelling. His white scales looked so shiny reflecting the light of the bar. So the guitar salesman started crying out his warning in each of those places, but the group of defenders the snake had seduced was larger than ever. Time and again, bouncers and security guards removed the guitar salesman for creating his annoying fuss, while the snake continued quietly going about his business of attracting his fawning crowd. Time and again, people told the guitar salesman how tiresome he had gotten, and how weary they were of his animosity and grudge-bearing sour grapes. They hated how he consistently cluttered the interesting conversations they were having about the snake, with the snake, and for the snake.
The snake became very skilled at starting multiple Save-the-Snake movements, whispering with tiny tongue in the ears of people who had influence they could wield on the snake's behalf. More and more people got involved, vowing to preserve snakely honor and the snakely way of life. They forgot they had ever had a tiny tongue in their ear, and remembered only that they started a movement it felt good to lead. If any of the other key players suddenly disappeared, the snake would assure them that the missing person hadn't been worthy to begin with, and the disappearance was forgotten altogether. The more press the movements got, the more people there were to rally against the guitar salesman. It got so that the snake rarely had to engage directly with the guitar salesman because so many others jumped in to defend it first. But every once in a while, the snake couldn't help being pierced by the barbs of the guitar salesman. In those moments, the snake would coil up, then strike out at the salesman with fangs bared, revealing clearly its venomous nature to the crowd around them. And despite the fact the venomous strikes were caught on camera and played back on TV numerous times in slow motion, the snake was still revered.
This story has no ending yet. Those who try to warn the snake that its head could be chopped off quite easily get called all kinds of creepy and are admonished to seek professional help for their problem. Anyone who tries to warn the people surrounding the snake that danger is imminent are called stalkers, while their time management and productivity are called into question. Why is it so much easier to believe the snake even after repeated slow motion video playbacks of its venomous strikes?

Exactly. mormonstories does not like an open forum where he can't throttle his critics with a delete button or a locking of the thread.

I'm not a sexy rattlesnake devotee, far from it. I don't think MormonStories is perfect. His flip-flopping and his propensity to turn into the drama llama can be annoying. I remember when he threw ex-Mormons under the bus and suggested we were all miserable (I think that's why Mayan became so ticked with him, if I remember correctly - I'll edit this if I've got that wrong). And I felt pretty pissed about that, too. But Rosebud's threats took the thread to a whole new level of unpleasantness.

you got most of that right.
if all y'all are going to open this up about how evil rosebud's threats are, were, or are perceived. be prepared for an earful about how distasteful mormonstories was in the same thread. i really doubt that the women, especially, are going to go for it.
having some so-called phd candidate go on about all his qualifications, throw an emotional fit on this forum, and throw out irrational diagnoses of his critics, is probably not going to fly. it smacks of more patriarchal BS, where the dude gets off (pun included) and the women get smeared.
just sayin. i do not see this working out well.

Sorry, but I didn't read posts by mormonstories or anyone else on this thread which came even close to the creepy nastiness of Rosebud's post in question.Mayan Elephant wrote:if all y'all are going to open this up about how evil rosebud's threats are, were, or are perceived. be prepared for an earful about how distasteful mormonstories was in the same thread.annie wrote:But Rosebud's threats took the thread to a whole new level of unpleasantness.

i trust you, rollo. i do. and i should really let people speak for themselves, but since when have i ever refrained?
let me give you one example of something that i do not expect the dudes here to really catch or care about.

Then I wonder what histrionics you will pull afterwards. I'm sure you will think of something...but over time...folks will figure you out. They already are. In droves.
What a life you have made for yourself. I hope you are happy with the bed you've made.
now. on the surface this may seem like nothing to you. but when a so-called phd candidate in psychology starts throwing out terms that he should know damn well are disparaging like that, and which he should know damn well implies that there is a personality disorder, is bizarre and significantly more revealing or threatening than what you are perceiving was said by rosebud.
when one takes into account the history that was there, professionally or otherwise, this kind of smearing from St. Mormonstories, is every bit as concerning as anything you may be reading into other posts. it is clintonesque in its effort to smear someone in the public.
i am not asking you to rate the creepiness, but just know that there is definitely another perception that may be even stronger than what you see and feel and read.
ETA: and lets not ignore the actual emotional reactions by some posters that were happening yesterday. sheesh.
