Yes, and it's precisely to determine whether or not a missionary can be sent to a location that might be detrimental to his health, to include intra-mission assignments. It's likely that Costa Rica, which is generally very first-world-ish, isn't considered a health risk.

Costa Rica is not "first worldish" regarding health needs. It does have free health. Obviously this young man had a very serious condition, and the Mormons who made the assignment should be called on it.

Costa Rica is far more developed than anywhere else in Central America, by a lot.

Doesn't someone who belongs to a cult automatically go to hell?

Nope, and in fact I believe many Mormons are Christians despite the nutty doctrines. One of my dear friends was a Mormon and believed in the Trinity and salvation through Christ. Who knows the status of anybody's spiritual standing except God? And I am not God........and you aren't going to be either.

That was a cheap shot. WTF?

What was a cheap shot - the Mormon belief that they will become gods in the future? That's one of the doctrines that I find totally unscriptural. I withdraw it in reference to you, however, if you don't believe that.

Hell, I'm not even a Mormon anymore, and you're not winning any points with me. Maybe I was wrong, and you aren't actually interested in respectful discussion.

Runtu,

Markk was onto something with Servant. Just let her do her thing. I'm not sure how you're not picking up on her writing style, but you know...

Uh. Just how in the world do you know whether or not CR is first world'ish or not? What's your experience with it?

I've been there. I've had friends live there. I've known ex-pats that lived there.

Yeah, I know. I just don't understand the condescension.

Yeah, that's my impression, but Servant seems somewhat reluctant to fess up to whether she believes in this.
Surprise, surprise, there is no divine mandate for the Church to discuss and portray its history accurately.
