Subordinate does not in anyway imply inferior. Subordinate means that Jesus carried out His Father's wishes and was in full agreement with them.

The Trinitarians say that Jesus was only subordinate as a man -- in his Godness he always has the exact same nature as the Father. The early church believed Jesus was subordinate in his nature as well while still proclaiming that he was God. The Nicene Creed ends any idea that Jesus was subordinate in his nature -- it was the purpose of the creed. It was a development of doctrine and almost every Christian historian understands this. That it was a development does not make it false since the Holy Spirit was to lead the Church into all truth. The Church did not have this complete understanding from the beginning and had to define it in the 4th century.

I would have to add that Mormons don't think Jesus is inferior to the Father. So I don't know why this is an issue.

Mormons do seem to believe that Jesus is ANOTHER god --- instead of a reflection of, or material manifestation of one and the same GOD ----- along with the Holy Spirit --- representing three beings yet ONE essence. Not as Mormons seem to imagine: TWO beings with TWO essences --- with the Holy Spirit being some kind of GOD FORCE. and not a being at all.BartBurk wrote:LittleNipper wrote:Subordinate does not in anyway imply inferior. Mormons also seem to imagine that we are the physical manifestation of spirits born to some God Dad and Mom. Lucifer seems in this scenario to be the "brother" of Jesus (Cain & Abel revisited), as opposed to a created being who wanted to replace God with himself ---- even though he (Lucifer) witnessed the glory of the GODHEAD fully, and this is a very good reason that the fallen angels have no salvation plan provided them. They unlike man have no excuse. They were not tempted. They rebelled at their own volition.

Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: "
The Godhead consists of the three distinct personages and three gods.. The Father Son and Holy Spirit. The Father and Son have bodies of flesh and bones, while the Holy Spirit is a personage of spirit. Robert Millet A Different Jesus page 198
"I have always declared God to be a distinct personage, Jesus Christ a separate and distinct personage from God the Father, and the Holy Ghost was a distinct personage and a Spirit: and these three constitute three distinct personages and three Gods," (Teachings of Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 370)

Three gods in one: what an absurd notion - so he hung on the cross and prayed to himself. I grew up that erroneous doctrine and it made as much sense to me then as now: a product of the creeds of nicaea and they say that we are confused, pleeese. Nothing makes more sense then the doctrine of three seperate beings in form and shape working toward one goal: the immortality and eternal life of man.

ONE GOD who from eternity past has always existed as THREE BEINGS united as ONE ESSENCE known since creation as GOD. These three together are who created EVERYTHING that ever existed apart from themselves. These three together are who hold the entire Universe together. These three together bring salvation to whomsoever will.

Do you believe God was a sinner like LDS teach ?
Would you think fallen means sinner Which gods and does that include Jehovah and God the Father
"The Gods who dwell in the Heaven...have been redeemed from the grave in a world which existed before the foundations of this earth were laid. They and the Heavenly body which they now inhabit were once in a fallen state....they were exalted also, from fallen men to Celestial Gods to inhabit their Heaven forever and ever." (Apostle Orson Pratt in The Seer, page 23)
Would you think fallen means sinner Which gods and does that include Jehovah and God the Father
In the 1844 LDS publication, Times and Seasons, volume 5, pages 613-614, Joseph Smith reiterated that God was an exalted man and that Mormon men could also become Gods. This teaching is well documented, as is their claim that God is not a spirit being, but that he has a body of flesh and bone.
“God is a perfected, saved soul enjoying eternal life.” (Second Counselor in the First Presidency, Marion G. Romney, as per Salt Lake Tribune, April 3, 1977.)
