God himself is increasing and progressing in knowledge, power, and dominion, and will do so, worlds without end." Wilford Woodruff, Journal of Discourses Vol. 6:120

"Jan 7-8, 1960 - First Presidency decides that Bruce R. McConkie’s Mormon Doctrine “must not be re-published, as it is full of errors and misstatements, and it is most unfortunate that it has received such wide circulation.” They are exasperated that McConkie and his publisher released the book without pre-publication publicity or notifying First Presidency. Even his father-in-law, senior apostle, Joseph Fielding Smith, “did not know anything about it until it was published.” This is McConkie’s way to avoid repetition of Presidency’s stopping his pre-announced Sound Doctrine three years earlier.

Committee of two apostles (Mark E Petersen and Marion G Romney) reports that McConkie’s Mormon Doctrine contains 1,067 doctrinal errors. For example, page 493 said: “Those who falsely and erroneously suppose that God is progressing in knowledge and gaining new truths cannot exercise sufficient faith in him to gain salvation until they divest themselves of their false beliefs.” However, McConkie is affirming doctrine of omniscience officially condemned by previous First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1865.”

God is omniscient in Mormonism.

OMNISCIENCE. Latter-day Saints differ among themselves in their understanding of the nature of God's knowledge. Some have thought that God increases endlessly in knowledge as well as in glory and dominion. Others hold to the more traditional view that God's knowledge, including the foreknowledge of future free contingencies, is complete. Despite these differing views, there is accord on two fundamental issues: (1) God's foreknowledge does not causally determine human choices, and (2) this knowledge, like God's power, is maximally efficacious. No event occurs that he has not anticipated or has not taken into account in his planning.

Sounds like LDS are confused about this

A Christian knows God knew Jeremiah because he is omniscient

Jeremiah 1

4 The Lord said to me, 5“I knew you before you were formed within your mother’s womb; before you were born I sanctified you and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.”

God speaks of future events as with much certainty as thou it was past events

Romans 4:16 Therefore, the promise is based£ on faith, so that it may be a matter of grace and may be guaranteed for all his descendants—not only for those who were given the Law,£ but also for those who share Abraham’s faith, who is the father of us all. 17As it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations.”£ Abraham£ acted in faith when he stood in God’s presence, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence things that don’t even exist.

Justice = Getting what you deserve
Mercy = Not getting what you deserve
Grace = Getting what you can never deserve

God is omniscient we mortals are not.

Whether you think William "Bill" Jefferson Clinton was the greatest thing since sliced bread or lower than pond scum. We're still talking about the same person.

It was widely believed that the ancient city of Troy in what is now Turkey was imaginary. Until it was found. For myself; if my religion gives me peace, and inspires me to treat you better. Who really gives a rats ass what imaginary being I believe in?

But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.

I suppose if it does, but then I am not sure it can be 100% good or bad. I tend to think it is better for all if we have more accurate beliefs and understanding. Religious beliefs can influence us to great acts of good, but also great acts of evil. Look at it's current influence with gays. If say LDS truth claims are not true how much less good are seniors who spend many hours a week doing Temple work. It can have some positive experiences for themselves but does so much less good then seniors who spend many hours helping out the needy. That is not to say they are not helping the needy but they would have much less time to do so. How about young missionaries. Their efforts could be better spent if the truth claims of the church are false, and they could be farther ahead with education and career.

Nothing in this world is 100% good/bad. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. There is an old saying in Islam that: "All sun makes a desert".

I'm not too worried about others believe. The best I can do is teach what I believe and leave it up to them to accept or not accept. Believe me I've got a pretty good understanding of what I believe.

I think that applies to the irreligious as well as the religious:. "Show me what you do and I'll know what you believe". It is hard to live by that principle, but I think it is important enough to keep trying to live up to it.

At worst it would be futile. From an atheist perspective in the end we all dead anyway. So it makes no difference what I believe as long as I treat you decently while you are alive.

I don't agree with the Gay's on certain subjects. I'm fine with them believing anything they want, and teaching their children to believe the same. Even forming their own church if they so desire. I just insist that I be allowed the same. No one has the right to baptism, and/or confirmation of membership in a church. It is essentially a contract between that church and the desiring non-member. Minor children have no right of contract, at least in the US. Their parent(s) have absolute legal authority over them in that area. You can't even join the US Military if you are under 18 without parental consent. Can you imagine the hew and cry if the LDS church were to say to gay parents that we'll put your under 8 years old child on the records of the church, and after 8 years old we'll baptize them regardless of their parents wishes?

Those activities are not mutually exclusive, especially for large groups of people like a church. Feeding the spirit is just as important as feeding the body. Or in less religious terms: An empty mind soon leads to an empty stomach.

The majority but not all LDS Missionaries are the proselytizing type. They fill a variety of roles in Service Missions. Plus because of the LDS stand on self help first they have a good record of helping people living more productive lives. Give man a fish he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish he eats and feeds his family for a lifetime.

The point is two parts. One is that many beliefs, including many LDS ones, have negative consequences to believers and even non-believers. The other is that incorrect beliefs can have people wasting time when they could be doing real good in the world. Temple work is a great example of this.

If your beliefs are not true, you are filling the mind with rubbish.

The vast majority are not out teaching a man to fish.
