*Jeremiah 25:1-38

This is the message Jeremiah received concerning all the people of Judah. This message came in the 4th year that Josiah's son Jehoiakim was king of Judah. His 4th year as king was the 1st year for Nebuchadnezzar as king of Babylon.

This message Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah and all the people of Jerusalem:

"I have been a prophet for 23 years, from the 13th year that Amon's son Josiah was the king of Judah. And from that time until today, I have repeatedly brought messages to you from the Lord. But you have not listened.

The Lord has sent his servants, the prophets, to you over and over again. But you have not listened to them. You ignored them.

Those prophets said, “'Change your lives and stop doing evil! If you change, you can return to the land that the Lord gave you and your ancestors long ago. He gave you this land to inhabit forever.

Don’t follow, serve or worship other gods. Don’t worship manmade idols. That only makes God angry with you. By doing this you only hurt yourselves.'"

However, you did not listen to me. You worshiped idols that someone made, and that angered me, and hurt you."

So this is what All-Powerful Lord says, “You have not listened to my messages. I will soon send for all the tribes from the north. I will send King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. He is my servant. I will bring those people against Judah and against her citizens. I will bring them against all the nations surrounding you also. I will destroy all those countries. I will make those lands like a barren wasteland to the end of the age. People will see those areas, and whistle at how devastated it all is.

I will end the sounds of joy and happiness in those places. There will be no more enjoyable sounds of the brides and bridegrooms. I will remove the sound of people grinding meal. I will remove the lamp light.

That entire area will be an empty desert. All these people will be slaves of the king of Babylon for a period of 70 years.

But after 70 years, I will punish the king of Babylon and the nation of Babylon. I will punish the land of the Babylonians for their sins. I will make that country a desert to the end of the age.

I said many bad things will occur to Babylon, and everything will happen. Jeremiah spoke about those foreign nations. And all the warnings are recorded in this text.

Yes, the people of Babylon will have to serve many nations and many great rulers. I will give them the punishment they deserve for everything they have done.”

The Lord God of Israel, said this to me: “Jeremiah, take this cup of wine from my hand. It is the wine of my anger. I am sending you to different nations. Make all the nations take a taste.

They'll drink this wine --- vomit and act drunken. They will do this because of the war that I will soon send against them.”

So I took the cup of wine from the Lord’s hand. I went to those nations and I made them drink from the cup.

I poured this wine for the people of Jerusalem and Judah. I made the kings and leaders of Judah drink from the cup. I did this so that they would become an empty desert. I did this so that place would be destroyed so badly that people would whistle and say curses about it. And it occurred—Judah is like that now.

I made the Pharaoh of Egypt, drink from that cup, his officials, his important leaders, and all his people drink from it.

I also made all the Arabs and all the kings of the land of Uz drink from the cup.

I made all the kings of the Philistines drink from the cup. These were the kings of the cities of Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remains of the city Ashdod.

Then I made the people of Edom, Moab, and Ammon drink from the cup.

I made all the kings of Tyre and Sidon drink from the cup.

I also made all the kings of the faraway countries drink from that cup.

I made the people of Dedan, Tema, and Buz drink from the cup. I made anyone who cut their hair at their temples drink from the cup.

I made all the kings of Arabia living in the desert drink from the cup.

I made all the kings from Zimri, Elam, and Media drink from the cup.

I made all the kings of the north, those who were near and far, drink from the cup. I made them drink in succession.

I made all the kingdoms that are on earth drink from that cup. Finally, after all these other nations, the king of Babylon will drink from it too.

“Jeremiah, say to those nations, this is what the Lord God Almighty of Israel, says: ‘Drink this cup of my anger. Get drunk from it and vomit. Fall down and don’t get up. Don’t get up because I am bringing wars against you.'

“They will refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink it, but you will tell them, ‘The Lord Almighty says, "You will surely drink from this cup!

I am already causing bad things to happen in Jerusalem, the city called by my name. Maybe you citizens think that you will not be punished, but you are mistaken. You will be! I am giving the command for war to come against all the people of the area.’” This message is from the Lord.

“Jeremiah, you will give them this message: ‘The Lord shouts from above. He shouts from his holy Temple. He shouts against his people. His shouts are loud like the songs of people walking on grapes to make wine.

The noise spreads among all the people on earth. What is all the noise about? The Lord explains why he is punishing all the nations. He has provided His inditement of them. He has judged them, and now he is executing the wicked with His sword.'" This message is from the Lord.

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Disasters will soon spread from country to country. They sweep across like a powerful storm to all the distant places on earth!"

The dead bodies of those executed by the Lord will reach across the earth. No one will cry for them. No one will pickup their bodies and bury them. They will be left lying on the ground like poop.

Shepherds, you should be leading the sheep. Start crying, you great leaders! Writhe on the ground in pain, you leaders of the sheep. It is now time for your slaughter. You will be scattered everywhere, like pieces flying when smashing a jar.

There will be no place for the shepherds to hide. They will not escape.

I hear the shepherds shouting --- the leaders of the sheep crying, because the Lord is destroying their pastures.

Those peaceful pastures will be ruined because of the Lord’s anger.

He is like an angry lion that has left his den. And because of His terrible anger and with attacks of the enemy army, their land will become an empty desert.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 The word that hath been unto Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, -- it [is] the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, --

2 Which Jeremiah the prophet hath spoken concerning all the people of Judah, even unto all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

3 `From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and unto this day -- this three and twentieth year -- hath the word of Jehovah been unto me, and I speak unto you, rising early and speaking, and ye have not hearkened;

4 And Jehovah hath sent unto you all His servants, the prophets, rising early and sending, and ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear, saying:

5 `Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell on the ground that Jehovah hath given to you and to your fathers from age unto age,

6 And ye do not go after other gods to serve them, and to bow yourselves to them, nor do ye provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, and I do no evil to you;

7 And ye have not hearkened unto Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- so as to provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands for evil to you.

8 `Therefore thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Because that ye have not obeyed My words,

9 Lo, I am sending, and have taken all the families of the north -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- even unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and have brought them in against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations round about, and have devoted them, and appointed them for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for wastes age-during.

10 And I have destroyed from them the voice of rejoicing, and the voice of joy, voice of bridegroom and voice of bride, noise of millstones, and the light of lamps.

11 And all this land hath been for a waste, for an astonishment, and these nations have served the king of Babylon seventy years.

12 `And it hath come to pass, at the fulness of seventy years, I charge against the king of Babylon, and against that nation -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- their iniquity, and against the land of the Chaldeans, and have appointed it for desolations age-during.

13 And I have brought in on that land all My words that I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book, that Jeremiah hath prophesied concerning all the nations.

14 For laid service on them -- also them -- have many nations and great kings, and I have given recompence to them according to their doing, and according to the work of their hands.

15 `For thus said Jehovah God of Israel unto me, Take the wine cup of this fury out of My hand, and thou hast caused all the nations to drink it unto whom I am sending thee;

16 And they have drunk, and shaken themselves and shewn themselves foolish, because of the sword that I am sending among them.

17 `And I take the cup out of the hand of Jehovah, and cause all the nations to drink unto whom Jehovah sent me:

18 Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, And its kings, its heads, To give them to waste, to astonishment, To hissing, and to reviling, as [at] this day.

19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, And his heads, and all his people,

20 And all the mixed people, And all the kings of the land of Uz, And all the kings of the land of the Philistines, And Ashkelon, and Gazzah, and Ekron, And the remnant of Ashdod,

21 Edom, and Moab, and the sons of Ammon,

22 And all the kings of Tyre, And all the kings of Zidon, And the kings of the isle that [is] beyond the sea,

23 Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, And all cutting the corners [of the beard],

24 And all the kings of Arabia, And all the kings of the mixed people, Who are dwelling in the wilderness,

25 And all the kings of Zimri, And all the kings of Elam, And all the kings of Media,

26 And all the kings of the north, The near and the far off, one unto another, And all the kingdoms of the earth, That [are] on the face of the ground, And king Sheshach drinketh after them.

27 And thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts God of Israel, Drink ye, yea drink abundantly, And vomit, and fall, and rise not, Because of the sword that I am sending among you.

28 And it hath come to pass, When they refuse to receive the cup out of thy hand to drink, That thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Ye do certainly drink.

29 For lo, in the city over which My name is called, I am beginning to do evil, And ye -- ye are entirely acquitted! Ye are not acquitted, for a sword I am proclaiming, For all inhabitants of the land, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.

30 And thou, thou dost prophesy unto them all these words, and hast said unto them: Jehovah from the high place doth roar, And from His holy habitation giveth forth His voice, He surely roareth for His habitation, A shout as of treaders down, God answereth all the inhabitants of the land,

31 Wasting hath come unto the end of the earth, For a controversy hath Jehovah with nations, He hath executed judgment for all flesh, The wicked! He hath given them to the sword, An affirmation of Jehovah.

32 Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Lo, evil is going out from nation to nation, And a great whirlwind is stirred up from the sides of the earth.

33 And the pierced of Jehovah have been in that day, From the end of the earth even unto the end of the earth, They are not lamented, nor gathered, nor buried, For dung on the face of the ground they are.

34 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry, And roll yourselves, ye honourable of the flock, For full have been your days, For slaughtering, and [for] your scatterings, And ye have fallen as a desirable vessel.

35 And perished hath refuge from the shepherds, And escape from the honourable of the flock.

36 A voice [is] of the cry of the shepherds, And a howling of the honourable of the flock, For Jehovah is spoiling their pasture.

37 And the peaceable habitations have been cut down, Because of the fierceness of the anger of Jehovah.

38 He hath forsaken, as a young lion, His covert, Surely their land hath become a desolation, Because of the oppressing fierceness, And because of the fierceness of His anger!

Your denial of reality is not limited to biblical topics but extends to ordinary facts such as that races exist. I guess once someone steals it is easier the next time. If you want to discuss science you'll have to find articles written by someone other than a "buzzfeed reporter". At least you might try quoting an article that does not disagree with your world view. There were many details brought up in the article you referenced that are not compatible with the biblical narrative you subscribe to.

But it might also be that migrants from Tibet crossed Asia and entered Japan on an ice bridge 12,000 to 22,000 years ago.

Mitochondrial DNA indicates that all living humans descend from one maternal source—christened Mitochondrial Eve—who lived in Africa between 100,000 and 200,000 years ago.

Stoneking and researchers in Germany compared the mitochondrial DNA of modern humans to that of a Neanderthal skeleton between 30,000 and 100,000 years old.

Hammer thinks that after the initial human diaspora out of Africa, there was a reverse migration back into Africa between 10,000 and 50,000 years ago.

So can I assume that you agree with these ages? After all they are from your reference.

It is a fact that Neanderthal DNA exists in a portion of the human population and is missing in the remainder of the human population. Same goes for Denisovan DNA. Only it exists in a different segment of the population. If we all descended from Adam and Eve this would not be a possibility. 6,000 years is not enough time for that variation in DNA to arise and get established in the human population.

But carry on ignoring the facts. It's all that you can do really. Busy yourself with meaningless cutting and pasting. Pass the time away. Maybe you'll make it to the grave without having to think a valid thought.

Oh and by the way Y-chromosome Adam has been pushed farther back in time.

An African-American man in South Carolina has lineage tracing back 338,000 years, according to a new study. The unidentified man’s Y chromosomes — a hereditary factor determining male gender — has a history so old that it predates the age of the oldest known homo sapiens fossils, according to the report published in the American Journal of Human Genetics.

The man’s chromosome carries a rare mutation, which researchers matched to a similar chromosome in the Mbo, a population living in a tiny area of western Cameroon in sub-Saharan Africa. “Our analysis indicates this lineage diverged from previously known Y chromosomes about 338,000 ago, a time when anatomically modern humans had not yet evolved,” Michael Hammer, associate professor at the Univ. of Arizona’s Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a research scientist at the United Airlines’s Arizona Research Labs, said via a press release. “This pushes back the time the last common Y chromosome ancestor lived by almost 70 percent.”

Kolob’s set time is “one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest” (Abraham 3:4). I take this as a round number. - Gee

I'm having enough trouble tracing my linage back 3 generations. That black man is stretching things if he images he can trace his LINAGE back 338,000 years. DNA data doesn't even last for more than about 10,000 years according to almost anyone in the field. You will not even accept the Linage of the Messiah as recorded in New Testament for both his step-father and mother. Y chromosomes so old-------------------------- they don't even know how life originated.

After king Jehoiakim of Judah's son Jehoiachin and officials, skilled workers and artisans of Judah were carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Lord revealed for me two baskets of figs placed in front of the temple of the Lord.

One basket had very good figs, like those that ripen early. The other basket contained very bad uneatable figs.

Then the Lord asked, “What do you see, Jeremiah?”

“Figs,” I answered. “The good ones are very good, but the bad ones are so bad they're uneatable.”

Then the word of the Lord came to me:

“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles taken from Judah, whom I sent from here to the realm of the Babylonians.

My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not dig them up.

I will give them a desire to know that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will come back to Me with all their heart.

But like the bad figs, which are uneatable, I deal with Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the survivors from Jerusalem, whether they remain here or live in Egypt.

I will make them hated and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a curse word, and an object of ridicule, wherever I send them.

I will send the sword, famine and plague after them until they are wiped out from the land I gave to them and their ancestors.”

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Jehovah hath shewed me, and lo, two baskets of figs, appointed before the temple of Jehovah, -- after the removing by Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, of Jeconiah, son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the heads of Judah, and the artizan, and the smith, from Jerusalem, when he bringeth them into Babylon --

2 In the one basket [are] figs very good, like the first-ripe figs, and in the other basket [are] figs very bad, that are not eaten for badness.

3 And Jehovah saith unto me, `What art thou seeing, Jeremiah?' and I say, `Figs, the good figs [are] very good, and the bad [are] very bad, that are not eaten for badness.'

4 And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:

5 Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Like these good figs so do I acknowledge The removed of Judah -- that I sent from this place, [To] the land of the Chaldeans -- for good.

6 And I have set Mine eyes on them for good, And have brought them back to this land, And built them up, and I throw not down, And have planted them, and pluck not up.

7 And have given to them a heart to know Me, For I [am] Jehovah, And they have been to Me for a people, And I am to them for God, For they turned back unto Me with all their heart.

8 And like the bad figs, that are not eaten for badness, Surely thus said Jehovah: So do I make Zedekiah king of Judah, And his heads, and the remnant of Jerusalem, Who are left in this land, And who are dwelling in the land of Egypt,

9 And I have given them for a trembling, For evil -- to all kingdoms of the earth, For a reproach, and for a simile, For a byword, and for a reviling, In all the places whither I drive them.

10 And I have sent against them the sword, The famine and the pestilence, Till their consumption from off the ground, That I gave to them and to their fathers!

14 For laid service on them -- also them -- have many nations and great kings, and I have given recompence to them according to their doing, and according to the work of their hands.

15 `For thus said Jehovah God of Israel unto me, Take the wine cup of this fury out of My hand, and thou hast caused all the nations to drink it unto whom I am sending thee;

DNA data doesn't even last for more than about 10,000 years according to almost anyone in the field. You will not even accept the Linage of the Messiah as recorded in New Testament for both his step-father and mother. Y chromosomes so old-------------------------- they don't even know how life originated.

Two points here, it wasn't the black man who traced his genealogy back 338,000 years. It was a group of researchers who looked at his DNA sample. This was not done by looking at DNA from something 338,000 years old dug out of the ground. It was determined by comparison to present day DNA in present day populations. His DNA represents divergence that requires that much time to accomplish.

Let me see if I can give you Lionel train metaphore so that you might understand this. Say you have an existing train set. There is a certain variation in paint schemes on the train cars due to microscopic critters that drag paint brushes behind them. It requires a year to completely recover a train car with a new color paint at the rate they work. You study your train cars and observe that most show a recovering with paint of about 10% of their surface area. This requires 36 and a half days to accomplish. Already this falsifies the train creation myths accepted by a certain branch of train creationists that declare the trains came into existence only last week by the magic incantations of the train god "I think I can."

Image

But now in the bottom of a pile of cars in a box you discover a car that is 90% recovered in paint. So it is 328 and a half days since the critters began repainting the surface of this car.

It requires a certain amount of time to arrive at a certain degree of difference in DNA within a population. Sorry but 6,000 years does not cut it.

Still, Hammer said, “It is likely that other divergent lineages will be found, whether in Africa or among African-Americans in the U.S. and that some of these may further increase the age of the Y chromosome tree. There has been a lot of hype with people trying to trace their Y chromosome to different tribes, but this individual from South Carolina can say he did it.”

The study has even further implications. It strengthens the belief that there is no “mitochondrial Eve” or “Y chromosome Adam.”

All of humankind, as a result, did not descend from exactly one pair of humans that lived at a certain point in human evolution.

But this is of no consequence to someone who believes in a magic text that describe an earth created before the sun, moon and stars is it? A text that describes the creation of man after the creation of the animal kingdom in one chapter and then the creation of man followed by the animal kingdom in the very next chapter. You like the story and prefer a story to facts and evidence even if it contradicts itself and venerates a god murderer.

How did the black race lose it? Or how did the rest of the human race obtain it?

The Denisovans’ DNA is found in our DNA as well. No trace of it is to be found except in the genomes of New Guineans, other people from islands in Melanesia, and Australian Aborigines. On average their genomes are about 5 percent Denisovan. Negritos in the Philippines have about 2.5 percent. Again how does a biblical model explain this fact? Did Adam have this DNA or not? If he had it how did we lose it? If not how did we obtain it?

Race is a myth.

Spotlight is spot on! Nothing in your link lends any support whatsoever to YEC or the notion of Biblical inerrancy (it does exactly the opposite of that, in fact), nor does it in any way weaken our position or strengthen yours. That you think it somehow does only further underscores your own irrationality, desperation to believe and/or your basic dishonesty and willful ignorance. That you apparently cannot see that glaringly obvious fact is another example of my often used metaphor of someone insisting that it is midnight while staring straight at the sun at high noon on a cloudless, mid-summer day!
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

DrW has reminded me that LittleNipper is fundamentally incapable of un-learning or modifying his absurd misconceptions about the age of the universe, and it is therefore a waste of time to even engage him, but as a parting shot I will leave yet another irrefutable, purely mathematical argument that YEC is the purest nonsense. Trigonometric proof that the universe has to be much more than 6,000 years old.

Based on the known, current speed of light and simple trigonometry, Supernova SN1987A has to be 168,000 light years away, so if the speed of light is constant, it must have taken 168,000 years for the light from it to get to us. YEC's have tried to get around that difficulty by postulating that the speed of light was once faster than it is now. Unfortunately, that doesn't help their case at all because, if the speed of light was once faster than it is now, the supernova remnant would have to be much larger and much farther away than we now think it is. So much farther away, in fact, that even assuming that the speed of light were once much higher than it now is, it can be shown mathematically that it would have taken even longer for the light from it to get to us than we now think it did. Furthermore, the faster we postulate that the speed of light once was, the worse it looks for YEC! Of course LittleNipper will not understand or even try to understand the math involved, but any mathematically competent person will immediately see just how untenable the YEC position is if they take a look at that video.

What an angry, raging, heartless psycho this Jehovah is. What a petulant uncaring, irrational butcher. As Richard Dawkins described him, "the most unpleasant character in all fiction." It does not reflect well on you that you venerate and worship this. How is he any different from a crazy jihadi blowing up a public square? He's just as insensitive to death and pain. More than anything, what a lousy abusive father he is. A father who murders his children for their disobedience? He should be locked up, and he is, in the minds of his believers, because that is the only place he exists.
