Oh yes, and that's why he closed an account that had nothing to do with LDS related discussions.

That's not what I said.
He seemed to stop posting his own personal apologetics once the Church produced essays that refuted some of his personal beliefs. I'm sure that's coincidental to the real reason he disappeared from here.

Yep, that'll do it. Church, church, church, church. Some of you guys are more devoted to the church than TBM's are.

Breaking news: it's a Mormon discussion board.
Would you rather posters discussed the price of fish?

FTR: if someone did bring bcspace in real life to the board, then they are a dick and they need banning.
I also hope he is okay in real life.

Jersey Girl just likes to play the Devil's Advocate sometimes. I wouldn't read too much in it.

BCSpace is probably just taking a break from internetting. I have. I have multiple times. Sometimes you need to unplug and get outside.

BCSpace is still posting over on the MD&D board (here's a post from last night):

Bcspace stopped posting substance many years ago. He got beat up with the facts he just stopped arguing any substance for years.

I didn't discuss substance. I said that he was posting here as he normally would when last seen here.

As it stands, another poster has said that he's active on the MD&D board. I'm very glad to hear that he is.

Me? Yes, really, I would. That's why I mainly post in Old Testament, though not the last month or so.

If?

Two people on this thread have already confirmed it.

I interacted a lot with bcspace during his time here. Having gone mano a mano with him on a number of issues related to the truth claims of the CoJCoLDS, and seen him arguing with others, I have to say that he was finding it increasingly hard to end up on the winning side - even though he had considerable skill in claiming that he had done so. He did not seem to be an easily intimidated person - quite the reverse, I'd say.

As far as I recall, his ceasing to post here followed quite soon after the church's publication of the essays on difficult doctrinal and historical points. Those essays would have made it considerably more difficult for him to argue some of his favorite points, such as (e.g.) that Smith did not have sex with any of his plural wives, plus various versions of his 'the church has never taught that' tactic.

Since he seems to be otherwise in good health, and is posting in his familiar style at MADB, I think it is more likely that he left this board because the church had dealt him a definitively losing hand than because he was in any way distressed by any treatment he received here.

A problem for this board is that, given the nature of the truth claims of the CoJCoLDS (basically, that where those claims refer to the real world they are often untrue, and capable of being shown to a high degree of plausibility to be untrue), it is impossible for this to be a friendly environment for a TBM who comes here to argue what he or she supposes to be a compelling and evidence-based case for the church's claims. Unless, that is, other posters restrict themselves to saying no more than 'you don't say?' and 'how about that?'. Once you engage them effectively and argue back, they are not going to end up happy with the result. How could they?

I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

Oh. Well. I retract my statement then! I think the other posters on this board are probably spot on.
