Book of Mormon DNA evidence
Ironically I think the Nez Pierce Indian tribe provides the best proofs for Book of Mormon and Bible DNA evidence.

That's about as credible as claiming that Martians settled Atlantis. My sympathies for your cognitive dissonance.

Saying that dna that has been in the region for the last 9k years somehow supports the Book of Mormon....... bomgeography, you related to bgood? His prophets of doom are as reliable as a fortune cookie, and your understanding of dna and radiometric dating came out of a cracker jack box.

Just some links about the real people, not the fantasy creation being promoted by bomgeography.

Re: Book of Mormon DNA evidence
A lot of US History books are so full of BS - ask any Native American.
So many lies!
Yet, I still choose to live in the US and maintain my citizenship.
The Book of Mormon is good fiction, as Mark Twain described it.
A lot of members think of it as fact, which might irritate some people here, especially when they use it to hurt others.
It's understandable.
Still, all life is based on subjectively limited beliefs - BS.
All of it. You woke up today, thinking of BS that is not provable - so many stories we tell ourselves are nonsense.
Is it really that big a deal that the Book of Mormon is also just stories?
Why not think of it as Greek mythology - just see the lesson, "Liken the scriptures to you" rather than see it as a historical factual lesson?

Then who delivered the plates to Joseph Smith?

Only in the sense that our children are being indoctrinated to stand up in front of people and announce that they "know" it is literally true. I would be ok with it just being a bunch of make-believe stories if the church would give the Native Americans and Polynesians their true identities back.

When it comes to Book of Mormon peoples the real truth is that DNA means "Don't Know Anything".

Re: Book of Mormon DNA evidence
Who knows, but who cares? The Catholic ("universal") church twisted doctrine multiple times and ways - to make people submissive to authority (then church/state). They went around torturing and killing people for not believing. Yet... through that universal church, we have scriptures preserved like "love one another" and "forgive them for they know not what they do." These are good things, from corrupt means. I think it was Buddha that said, "To get a diamond out of a dumpster, you'll have to get dirty."spotlight wrote:Amore wrote: "Liken the scriptures to you" rather than see it as a historical factual lesson?

It doesn't matter how something comes - if it exists, then it exists. There are many book of Mormons all over the world. They are real, not imaginary.

I know what you mean - it's definetely a valid concern. I've gone to great lengths to try to prevent such indoctrination with my kids. Once, one got up to bear his testimony and said, "I know the scriptures are not literally true, but they have some good stuff in there and we should read it."Hagoth wrote:Amore wrote:Is it really that big a deal that the Book of Mormon is also just stories?
