Noah's Ark questions

Mormons believe in Noah's ark. They really don't talk about it much, though, so I suspect that's because our evangelical friends have claimed the territory, along with the other creationist theories. But by quietly endorsing the Ark and the global flood (which is a doctrine, by the way), they are signing onto ark apologetics in some form.

Here is the most ambitious current presentation on the Ark. What insight can the Latter Day Saints provide on this question? Why don't they seem to care?

Noah must have had room on the Ark for an awful lot of plant pots (probably worse than my back patio).

Noah was possibly in the Mississippi flood basin area that can flood over 50 miles. Once they were out in the ocean out of site from land they probably perceived it as a world wide flood.

Then why bother loading two of every animal? Didn't God know it was just going to be a typical, semi-annual Mississippi river flooding?

Why would they do that? If God told them to do that, the question (didn't God know it was just going to be local?) still stands. If God didn't tell Noah to build a boat and load animals, how did Noah know there was going to be a flood far enough in advance to build the boat and load the animals?

Critical thinking skills are useful for many subjects. Even Book of Mormon history tales.

I suppose our Vichy Mormon friend bomgeo would argue that Noah & Co. were able to go around gathering millions of examples of seeds, spores and cuttings. When they weren't wrangling elephants and crocodiles.
