Here's a map of known, fresh water springs in Missouri.


There is a ghost town in Utah called Diamond. I used to go there sometimes in my youth (good rabbit hunting). They called it Diamond because it was in a geological area that had a lot of quartz crystals. Inexperienced prospectors would often stumble into town proclaiming they had discovered a diamond mine when they had only found a few quartz crystals.

I don't if that is true I'm trying to confirm.

Confirming this timing still lacks the hurddle of connecting them to Book of Mormon peoples. One can point at any water feature in the western hemisphere and make a just as valid argument for it as the waters of Mormon. I vote for barton springs in Austin.
