I am very familiar with John 17, how does it complement LDS theology and their teaching that you can become a God with the same power and knowledge as HF, and create worlds for your spirit children?
Jesus Prays to Be Glorified
17 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
You have to understand that Jesus was and is both God and Man...He made Himself a man, laying His being God to the side by reputation, to humbly die for mankind on the cross...Paul taught this very clearly in Phil 2
Phil 2:5:8
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
In John 17 when John wrote..."Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began." Here Jesus nows what he is going to do, and as a Man is not looking forward to the cross, and is praying to be with the Father as God.
This is called the Kenosis and there is much written on it and it is a awesome study.
Bottom line is how does this in anyway compliment LDS theology?
Don't take life so seriously in that " sooner or later we are just old men in funny clothes" "Tom 'T-Bone' Wolk"
