I stopped listening after about 2 minutes when he said the Bible, that he was convinced that the Bible could teach him the truth. The Bible can do no such thing, it is an old ancient book of outmoded thinking and mythology. So thanks for the video post but I have no reason to listen to the rest of it.

If God is the author of the Bible, then it shouldn't make how ancient the Bible is

After invading southern Greece and receiving the submission of other key city-states, Philip II of Macedon sent a message to Sparta: "If I invade Laconia you will be destroyed, never to rise again." The Spartan ephors replied with a single word: "If" (αἴκα). Subsequently, neither Philip nor his son Alexander the Great attempted to capture the city.
Choyo Chagas is Chairman of the Big Four, the ruler of the planet from "The Bull's Hour" ( Russian: Час Быка), a social science fiction novel written by Soviet author and paleontologist Ivan Yefremov in 1968.
Six months after its publication Soviet authorities banned the book and attempted to remove it from libraries and bookshops.

I don't believe God wrote any book. But he may well have inspired men to write books.

Re: Mormon Apologists turns to Jesus
ancient books,
Perhaps all books written before 1935 should be discarded.
Hm, perhaps too short a time to become irrelevant. 1410 ,would be better.
No lets allow books written within the last 1900 years. That is all at least sort of modern.
I am having trouble deciding.
Who cares about the experience of dead people anyway?

Ancient books are fine as literature and subjective windows on history.
But as detailed guides to the universe and life go, I will also not be turning to The Odyssey or The Lord of the Rings. But I will read them with enjoyment and occasional illumination. I will not build temples to them or kill those who don't read them or try to enact laws that address the misdeeds of Circe or Saruman, nor will I ever claim that they are science and literal history.

Muksutov,
I can see good sense in your comments. Temples or what ever you call them should be places people want to get together for celebration. Killing people who don't agree or participate with you is definitely a sin or if you don't like that word, a rotten form of neighborliness.
I certainly would not want to get my science from a book written more than 500 years ago. People before that did make some discoveries but we all know they had severe limits on their knowledge of science.
I can remember a time when the Illiad provided welcome guidance to my life.I definitely felt I was off on the wine dark sea and had to struggle to get on. A Farewell to Arms was also a help. In fact a number of books have provided me with nourishment I needed.

The Enuma Elish. The Elder Eddas. The Bacchae. Cawdor and Medea. Some of the writings of Rilke, early Joyce, poetry, a handful of plays and films. Shakespeare. Swinburne. Larkin. Where I find terrible beauty and infinity.
