I actually emailed Dino while he was in prison. I attempted to arrange for him to debate on line at the EvC forum but he declined. He knows his arguments don't hold water and that he has to stick to a format that doesn't allow enough time to pass in order to look like he's winning before an ignorant crowd. His technique is to present so many false points that there is insufficient time within the format to respond to them all. The only reason he debates is for the free publicity. He makes his money off of his on line materials for sale to the scientifically illiterate.
No growth, no change with this man child over the past couple of decades except for the improved hair cut.
Kolob’s set time is “one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest” (Abraham 3:4). I take this as a round number. - Gee
I don't think there has been an innovation in creationism since the Gish Gallop was invented. Duane should have patented it.
These correspondence Bible college scientists kill me. What a racket. Talk about "cults of Christianity"....
I wasn't far off when I wrote:
"Wow. That must be Bible College science, as taught by Reverend Jim Bob Lickadick in the Henry Morris Memorial Creationist Museum and Snakehandling Institute, an honored and valued affiliate of the Jimmy Swaggart Ministry to Hot Hookers and the Jim Bakker Lets-Sell-Buckets-of-Crap-for-Jesus Charity for the Religiously Insane."
You may address me as "Maksutov, Prophet and Seer".
Themis wrote:Like I said, that is the best argument this view has, which is not very good. It doesn't answer why an eternal being would want to waste so much time and effort. Humans like most life has plenty of problems. Problems that don't need to be there. The view used to be that is was all done in days, but now we know life on earth is billions of years old. So the view changes to what is a billion tears to an eternal being. I might live life differently if I was an eternal being, but I wouldn't go out of my way to take an astronomically longer time to get something done then I need to, or make so many mistakes doing it.
Want to know what eternity is like while in this life? Put your finger in a vice. This life is like putting our fingers in a vice. Take as long as you want it still hurts.
Themis wrote: That doesn't address the problem at all.
Perhaps God actually likes dinosaurs and thinks of you as a problem which he was putting off.
I think the above idea is true but incomplete. I am sure I do not know all of the answer and can live with that. I would add however that I think that God made creation and us in a way in which we participate in that creation.
The CCC wrote:You are presenting two false dichotomies. One this life was ever made to be without problems, and two we have a clue as to how long eternity is.
I didn't make either of them. I don't care how long eternity is per LDS thinking. It is infinite by the normal definition, but it has nothing to do with what I am saying. I also already said I am not expecting perfection. God wouldn't need to take billions of years to get the imperfect world of today. so it makes so sense to take billions of years to get to a very imperfect world we see today. Lots of mistakes as well.

So what? I could make all kinds of lame excuses. It still does not change the problem we have. This is just a lame way people try to get around problems in logic. Maybe we just don't have all the answers. We can use this for anything, making it useless for everything. Like I said, it's the best you got, which isn't much. This is why it is more reasonable to think God wasn't involved other then just starting the universe and letting things happen on there own. Your problem results from the YEC where it makes sense, but now we see that evidence shows a much older earth with evolving life, and it no longer makes sense.
The CCC wrote:I want to know all the answers, but that isn't likely to happen any time soon.
The problem is not a lack of answers for everything. It's that the answers you do suggest don't make sense. YEC is logical from the POV that God quickly(days) created the universe with man in it. The main reason was to create Man. Especially for LDS. The problem arises because evidence shows an old earth with evolving life over billions of years. This doesn't fit well with the main reasons of biblical creation. The only way is to create a different God who has lots of limitations such that this is the only way it could be done. That's why I said the best one may be one that has little to no influence in the universe other then causing it to come into existence.
