So it seems to be a trivial issue to you that Mayans were wrongly told that the Book of Mormon is for them and about their history. The false pretenses that influenced them to join the church were just a simple mistake? They were wrongly told in inspired temple dedicatory prayers that they are the seed of Lehi. That is just a minor matter according to you?
I think its wrong of you to think they just joined the church because they were told they were lamanites. Those who are converted become converted because they study the Book of Mormon and receive a witness of its truthfulness by the holy spirit time and time again no different than anywhere else in the world whether Africa Asia usa australia, etc
I listened to the church, I trusted the church, I believed lies I was told. I was baptized partly because I believed those lies. BomGeo, you show no concern whatsoever about the promotion of lies, so of course you would try to shift burdens to others and always away from the liars themselves. So not only do you approve of lying for the Lord, you practice it. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Don't think that I will ever fail to remind you of the determined, blind and ugly racism as practiced in promoting these fraudulent theories, McKane. Maybe racism is acceptable in your circles. There is evidence to support that, and you keep adding to it.

I think you minimize and trivialize the identity issues involved when an American Indian is told who they are by a religion that is wrong. I think you are disregarding the alleged claim of Moroni's father that the Book of Mormon was written to the Lamanites so that they could know the true history of God's dealings with their ancestors. I also think that you are uniformed or ignorant of the genocide against the Mayan peoples by the Government of Guatemala with US aid. And now you say that the words of your apostles were wrong and that the Mayans are not the people that the Lord made the promises to. David McKane, your church's teachings are racist and wrong to begin with. What you are doing concerning the Mayan peoples is just sick.

Tapir where do I begin. If you view the belief that indigenous people from either South America or North America or both are descendants of Lamanites as racist I really don’t care. Faithful Mayan members love the church and the Book of Mormon. So is the case for members in Africa America Asia etc. For many members the light peace and joy the church brings helps offsets the drugs and gang violence found in many South American countries. Many members try and come to America to get away from the poverty violence that infest there living environments. You constantly complain about the church and the US government. All I hear is cries of racism and how terrible and racist America and the Church is. I can tell you it’s its alot better in America then in Afghanistan. I’m currently at a forward operating base in Afghanistan with the US Army. My role here is minimal but needed.
I have been to different forward operating bases where I see plaques of dead soldiers. I see DFACS named after dead soldiers. Im glad you can b**** and complain from your sofa in relative peace and safety while others risk there lifes to give Americans that opportunity. What’s going on in Afghanistan will probably blow up in America’s face which tends to happen. No good deed goes unpunished is a phrase I have heard several times. So you can continue your constant complaints.

Hatred for the US government? Is that why I served 20 years active duty? You are really grasping David McKane. Here's where you can begin. You can stop preaching your racist nonsense. You can stop using the Michigan relics and the elephant effigy pipes. You can stop misrepresenting haplogroup x. And now we can add to that, you can stop lying about being in the US Army.

It seems that bomgeography is trying hard to conflate a dislike for the LDS Church with anti-patriotism, now. This really shows a desperation with his inability to deal intellectually with the reliable facts that he has been presented with here. Bridges burned. [Terrestrial-caliber comment deleted].
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

All you do is play the race card. And ignore all the evidence confirmed by archeologist.
Members are going to see Hopewell Archeological sites. Tapir unless you can prove the Hopewell are not the Nephites you have nothing to prove. All you do is play the race card and say the Michigan relics are Fake. While thousands of members are seeing Hopewell artifacts and sites all confirmed by archeologist.
Oh and I should probably clarify I have 15 years combined in the Air national and Army National Guard currently on deployment.

Confirmed as Hopewell artifacts? Tapirrider doesn't need to prove that the Hopewell culture is not Nephite culture. Someone needs to supply proof that it is. So far, no one has even come close. Professional Archaeologists don't comment on the possibility because the idea is so very silly.
No One disputes that there was a Hopewell culture. No one disputes that they did have artifacts. Anyone with a smattering of education will dispute your childish clams.

Hopewell civilization does match up. the end of the Hopewell matches up. Their woven clothing matches up. Their metal weapons jewelry and tools match up. Their extensive and advanced trade matches up. Their use of Highways matches up. The manner of building fortifications matches up. Their occupying lands such as the Hill Cumorah matches up. Joseph Smith pointed to their mounds and said they were the Nephites. They have dna from the middle east.
