Peter and John were still speaking to the people when the priests, the captain in charge of the Temple police, and the Sadducees happened upon them,
totally annoyed that they were teaching the people the doctrine of resurrection from the dead and offering Jesus as proof.
The Temple police arrested them; and since it was already evening, they held them in custody overnight.
However, many of those who heard the message trusted; the number of men alone was about 5000.
The next day, the people’s rulers, elders and Torah-teachers assembled in Jerusalem,
along with Annas the chief priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander and the other men from the family of the chief priest.
They had the apostles stand before them and asked, “By what power or in what name did you do this?”
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people!
If we are being examined today about a good deed done for a disabled person, if you want to know how he was restored to health,
then let it be known to you and to all the people of Israel that it is in the name of the Messiah, Jesus from Nazareth, whom you had executed on a stake as a criminal but whom God has raised from the dead, that this man stands before you perfectly healed.
This Jesus is the stone rejected by you builders which has become the cornerstone.
There is salvation by no one else! For there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by whom we must be saved!”
When they saw how bold Peter and John were, even though they were untrained ignoramuses, they were shocked; also they recognized them as having hung with Jesus.
Additionally, since they could observe the man who had been healed standing right there beside them, there was nothing they could say to discredit the healing.
So they told them to step away from the Sanhedrin while they discussed the matter privately.
“What can we do with these men?” they asked each other. “Why, anyone in Jerusalem can see that a remarkable miracle has come about through them — we can’t possibly deny that.
But to prevent it from spreading any further among the people, let’s warn them not to speak any more to anyone in this name.”
So they called them in again and ordered them under no circumstances to speak or teach in the name of Jesus.
But Peter and John answered, “You must judge whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God.
As for us, we can’t help talking about what we have actually seen and heard.”
They threatened them some more but finally let them leave — they couldn’t punish them because of the people, for everyone was praising God over what had happened,
since the man who had been miraculously healed was more than 40 years of age.
Upon being released, they went back to their friends and reported what the head priest and elders had said to them.
When they heard it, they raised their voices to God with singleness of heart. “Master,” they prayed, “You created heaven, earth, the sea and everything in them.
By the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David, Your servant, You said,
‘Why did the nations rage and the peoples devise useless plans?
The kings of the earth took their stand; and the rulers gathered together against the Lord and against his Messiah.
This has come true in this city, since Herod and Pontius Pilate, with gentiles and the peoples of Israel, all assembled against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You made Messiah,
to do what your power and plan had already predestined should happen.
So now, Lord, take note of their threats; and enable Your slaves to speak Your message with boldness!
Stretch out your hand to heal and to do signs and miracles through the name of Your holy servant Jesus!”
While they were still praying, the place where they were gathered was shaken. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke God’s message with boldness.
All the many believers were one in heart and soul, and no one claimed any of his possessions for himself, but everyone shared everything he posessed.
With great power the apostles continued testifying to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and they were all held in high regard.
No one among them was poor, since those who owned lands or houses sold them and turned over the proceeds
to the apostles to distribute to each according to his need.
Thus Joseph, whom the Apostles called Bar-Nabba/Barnabas (which means “the Exhorter”), a Levi and a native of Cyprus,
sold a field which belonged to him and brought the money to the Apostles.
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
1 And as they are speaking unto the people, there came to them the priests, and the magistrate of the temple, and the Sadducees --
2 being grieved because of their teaching the people, and preaching in Jesus the rising again out of the dead --
3 and they laid hands upon them, and did put them in custody unto the morrow, for it was evening already;
4 and many of those hearing the word did believe, and the number of the men became, as it were, five thousand.
5 And it came to pass upon the morrow, there were gathered together of them the rulers, and elders, and scribes, to Jerusalem,
6 and Annas the chief priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the chief priest,
7 and having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, `In what power, or in what name did ye do this?'
8 Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them: `Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 if we to-day are examined concerning the good deed to the ailing man, by whom he hath been saved,
10 be it known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye did crucify, whom God did raise out of the dead, in him hath this one stood by before you whole.
11 `This is the stone that was set at nought by you -- the builders, that became head of a corner;
12 and there is not salvation in any other, for there is no other name under the heaven that hath been given among men, in which it behoveth us to be saved.'
13 And beholding the openness of Peter and John, and having perceived that they are men unlettered and plebeian, they were wondering -- they were taking knowledge also of them that with Jesus they had been --
14 and seeing the man standing with them who hath been healed, they had nothing to say against [it],
15 and having commanded them to go away out of the sanhedrim, they took counsel with one another,
16 saying, `What shall we do to these men? because that, indeed, a notable sign hath been done through them, to all those dwelling in Jerusalem [is] manifest, and we are not able to deny [it];
17 but that it may spread no further toward the people, let us strictly threaten them no more to speak in this name to any man.'
18 And having called them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor to teach, in the name of Jesus,
19 and Peter and John answering unto them said, `Whether it is righteous before God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye;
20 for we cannot but speak what we did see and hear.'
21 And they having further threatened [them], let them go, finding nothing how they may punish them, because of the people, because all were glorifying God for that which hath been done,
22 for above forty years of age was the man upon whom had been done this sign of the healing.
23 And being let go, they went unto their own friends, and declared whatever the chief priests and the elders said unto them,
24 and they having heard, with one accord did lift up the voice unto God, and said, `Lord, thou [art] God, who didst make the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all that [are] in them,
25 who, through the mouth of David thy servant, did say, Why did nations rage, and peoples meditate vain things?
26 the kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ;
27 for gathered together of a truth against Thy holy child Jesus, whom Thou didst anoint, were both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and peoples of Israel,
28 to do whatever Thy hand and Thy counsel did determine before to come to pass.
29 `And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and grant to Thy servants with all freedom to speak Thy word,
30 in the stretching forth of Thy hand, for healing, and signs, and wonders, to come to pass through the name of Thy holy child Jesus.'
31 And they having prayed, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and were speaking the word of God with freedom,
32 and of the multitude of those who did believe the heart and the soul was one, and not one was saying that anything of the things he had was his own, but all things were to them in common.
33 And with great power were the apostles giving the testimony to the rising again of the Lord Jesus, great grace also was on them all,
34 for there was not any one among them who did lack, for as many as were possessors of fields, or houses, selling [them], were bringing the prices of the thing sold,
35 and were laying them at the feet of the apostles, and distribution was being made to each according as any one had need.
36 And Joses, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas -- which is, having been interpreted, Son of Comfort -- a Levite, of Cyprus by birth,
37 a field being his, having sold [it], brought the money and laid [it] at the feet of the apostles.

Why go to the university where Einstein taught if you can go to a place like this?
Oh sorry, they don't actually have classes there. It's just a mail order cult, er, church.
Pat Robertson went to Yale. Do you really think they teach creationism at Yale? Let's face it, Nipper, the less education you have, the better creationist you'll be. That speaks even more volumes than your holy books.

Einstein is dead. Just because people are smart and education doesn't mean that they know everything or are not possibly stuck on their own values and research. I believe that the best creationists are those who are highly educated, but their education doesn't end with the material. They also consider the spiritual. You should also realize that no one really needs to attend a University to acquire an education. The Internet is quickly replacing the ivy covered walls of the past. Instructors can come right into someone's home via the internet. Colleges and universities are quickly becoming dinosaurs. Even you must realize this...
LittleNipper, What we do know is more than sufficient to lay to rest young earth creationism. Sorry, but those are the facts. Just as what we do know is sufficient to disprove the flat earth or the notion that the sun orbits the earth. Besides think about your argument here. If we should ignore science because it doesn't know everything what does that say about what we should do with the argument of someone who doesn't know anything?
Kolob’s set time is “one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest” (Abraham 3:4). I take this as a round number. - Gee

i have three conclusions: 1. you didn't read the novel 2. you did it but didn't understand 3. you can not use the quote feature
maybe a fourth one: 4. no, i don't write it; it would be noncelestial
