The last two pages of this thread have deteriorated into non-substantive/non-productive back and forth barbs, etc. Can you see and/or produce any reason(s) for continued discussion at this point, Lemmie?
If there is something else that you think might engage us in further discussion, go for it. I'm game.
mentalgymnast wrote:The way this question is written...I'd have to say, nothing. That is, nothing is untrue. To the point of your second question, that would be difficult to answer as I don't see it connecting with the first part of your question in a deterministic way. This seems to be a 'jello-y' kind of request, Doc.
Your original question was in need of clarification...as is this one.
When you say, "untrue ABOUT the Book of Mormon", what is it that you are actually asking? Whether Lamanites/Nephites actually existed...that kind of thing? It might be helpful if you could give me a list of those things that you consider to be "untrue ABOUT the Book of Mormon" and I can go through the list and agree or disagree?
As it is, the way you've put your question together, again, I'd have to say...nothing is untrue. On the other hand, there are lots of things contained IN...rather than ABOUT... the Book of Mormon which I take on faith and believe to be true. Teachings concerning the Son of God and His Gospel, for example. Wickedness never was happiness is another important 'truth'. Alma 32 and the development/importance of faith. And so on.

Given this response, what exactly makes you, a tithe-paying, temple-endowed faithful member of the Mormon church a "centrist"?

My continued practice in respect to keeping an open mind as I observe/experience the world around me. I find that on many things I am am neither 'far right' or 'far left'. I like to take things as they come and look at the merits of a position based upon an internal compass of what 'makes sense' , what 'feels right', and where the evidence...from all sources...seems to lead.
I typically find myself somewhere in the middle much of the time.
OK. Now...
Lemmie, anything that YOU can think of that might add to the OP discussion and/or any of the associated content? Is there a worthwhile discussion to continue?

Uh. When? You believe nothing is untrue about the Book of Mormon. You pay tithing. You're active in the Church. You're temple-endowed. You stated nothing other than you 'have an open mind' and that somehow puts you in the middle. On the topic of Mormonism you're literally a hardliner. You adhere uncompromisingly to Mormonism's ideas, policies, and doctrines.
Other than admitting you now know Jacob 5 is an anachronism (whether you allow yourself to believe it is another issue) I don't believe you've wavered, at all, from the Party line.

Not with you, as you do not mean that sincerely. Do you not remember using profanity and breaking forum rules (AGAIN) to say this to me on the previous page?

You are such a pain in the a**.
I have YET to actually carry on any kind of conversation with you that I would consider to be worthwhile and/or beneficial.
Feel free to read through the thread however, the other posters on this thread have been having an excellent discussion that you have clearly missed, based on your habit of skimming and the resulting disjointed, out of context comments you have made.

Last response to you for a bit, Lemmie. You're sucking up too much of my time.
I had an added thought to express. Yes, I know I cut and pasted some of what I had already cut and pasted before as I made my second response. I suppose I could have gone back and edited the first post and added in the additional comment.
