Acts 20:1-38

After the furor died down, Paul sent for the disciples and encouraged them, then took his leave and set out on his way to Macedonia.

He went through that area, and, after saying much to encourage them, passed on to Greece,

where he spent 3 months. As he was preparing to set sail for Syria, he discovered a plot against him by the unbelieving Jews; so he changed his mind and decided to return by way of Macedonia.

The son of Pyrrhus, Sopater from Berea, accompanied him; as did Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia.

These men went on and waited in Troas for us,

while we sailed from Philippi after the Days of Unleavened bread (Matzo). 5 days later, we met them in Troas, where we stayed a week.

On the start of the week, when we were gathered to break bread, Paul addressed them. Since he was going to depart the next day, he kept talking until midnight.

Now there were many oil lamps burning in the upstairs room where we were meeting,

and there was a young fellow named Eutychus sitting on the window-sill. As Paul’s dissertation went on and on, Eutychus grew sleepier and sleepier; until finally he went sound asleep and fell from the third story to the ground. When they picked him up, he was dead.

But Paul went down, threw himself onto him, put his arms around him and said, “Don’t be upset, he lives!”

Then he went back upstairs, broke the bread and ate. He continued talking with them till daylight, then left.

So, greatly relieved, they brought the boy home alive.

We went on ahead to the ship and set sail for Assos, where we were planning to bring Paul aboard. He had arranged this because he wanted to go there by land.

After he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and went on to Mitylene.

The following day, we sailed from there and arrived off Chios; the following day, we crossed over to Samos; and the day following, we reached Miletus.

For Paul had decided to bypass Ephesus on his voyage, in order to avoid losing time in the province of Asia, because he was hurrying to reach Jerusalem, if possible in time to celebrate Pentecost.

But Paul did notify from Miletus to Ephesus, summoning the elders of the Messianic community.

Upon arriving, Paul said to them, “You yourselves know how, from the first day I set foot in the province of Asia, I was with you the whole time,

serving the Lord with much humility and tearfully, regardless of the tests I had to undergo because of the schemes of the unbelieving Jews.

You know that I withheld nothing that could be helpful to you, and that I taught you both publicly and from house to house,

declaring in total seriousness the same message to Jews and Greeks alike: turn from sin to God; and put your trust in our Lord, Jesus the Messiah.

And now, driven by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem. I don’t know what will occur there to me,

other than that in every city the Holy Spirit continues warning me that imprisonment and persecution await me.

But I consider my own life of no importance to me whatsoever, as long as I can finish the course ahead of me, the task I received from the Lord Jesus — to declare in completely the Good Message of God’s love and kindness.

Now, listen! I know that none of you people among whom I have proclaimed the Kingdom will ever see me around again.

Therefore, I testify on this day that I am innocent of the blood of everyone.

For I did not hesitate from proclaiming to you the complete plan of God.

Look out for yourselves, and for all the flock in which the Holy Spirit has placed you as leaders, to shepherd God’s Messianic community, which He won for Himself at the cost of His own Son’s blood.

I realize that after I leave, savage wolves will come among you; and they won’t spare the flock.

Even from among your own number, men will arise and teach perverted truth, in order to drag away the disciples after themselves.

So stay alert! Remember that for 3 years, night and day, with tearful eyes, I never stopped warning you!

And now I entrust you to the care of the Lord and to the message of His love and kindness, for it can lift you up and give you an inheritance among all those who have been set apart for God.

I have not desired anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.

You yourselves know that these hands of mine have provided not only for my own needs, but for the needs of my co-workers as well.

In all ways, I have set an example of how, by working hard like this, you must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself, ‘There is more happiness in giving than in getting.’”

When done speaking, Paul knelt along with them and prayed.

They all were tearful as they threw their arms about Paul's neck and kissed him goodbye.

What saddened them the most was his comment that they would never see him again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 And after the ceasing of the tumult, Paul having called near the disciples, and having embraced [them], went forth to go on to Macedonia;

2 and having gone through those parts, and having exhorted them with many words, he came to Greece;

3 having made also three months' [stay] -- a counsel of the Jews having been against him -- being about to set forth to Syria, there came [to him] a resolution of returning through Macedonia.

4 And there were accompanying him unto Asia, Sopater of Berea, and of Thessalonians Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus, and of Asiatics Tychicus and Trophimus;

5 these, having gone before, did remain for us in Troas,

6 and we sailed, after the days of the unleavened food, from Philippi, and came unto them to Troas in five days, where we abode seven days.

7 And on the first of the week, the disciples having been gathered together to break bread, Paul was discoursing to them, about to depart on the morrow, he was also continuing the discourse till midnight,

8 and there were many lamps in the upper chamber where they were gathered together,

9 and there was sitting a certain youth, by name Eutychus, upon the window -- being borne down by a deep sleep, Paul discoursing long -- he having sunk down from the sleep, fell down from the third story, and was lifted up dead.

10 And Paul, having gone down, fell upon him, and having embraced [him], said, `Make no tumult, for his life is in him;'

11 and having come up, and having broken bread, and having tasted, for a long time also having talked -- till daylight, so he went forth,

12 and they brought up the lad alive, and were comforted in no ordinary measure.

13 And we having gone before unto the ship, did sail to Assos, thence intending to take in Paul, for so he had arranged, intending himself to go on foot;

14 and when he met with us at Assos, having taken him up, we came to Mitylene,

15 and thence having sailed, on the morrow we came over-against Chios, and the next day we arrived at Samos, and having remained in Trogyllium, on the following day we came to Miletus,

16 for Paul decided to sail past Ephesus, that there may not be to him a loss of time in Asia, for he hasted, if it were possible for him, on the day of the Pentecost to be at Jerusalem.

17 And from Miletus, having sent to Ephesus, he called for the elders of the assembly,

18 and when they were come unto him, he said to them, `Ye -- ye know from the first day in which I came to Asia, how, with you at all times I was;

19 serving the Lord with all humility, and many tears, and temptations, that befell me in the counsels of the Jews against [me];

20 how nothing I did keep back of what things are profitable, not to declare to you, and to teach you publicly, and in every house,

21 testifying fully both to Jews and Greeks, toward God reformation, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 `And now, lo, I -- bound in the Spirit -- go on to Jerusalem, the things that shall befall me in it not knowing,

23 save that the Holy Spirit in every city doth testify fully, saying, that for me bonds and tribulations remain;

24 but I make account of none of these, neither do I count my life precious to myself, so that I finish my course with joy, and the ministration that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify fully the good news of the grace of God.

25 `And now, lo, I have known that no more shall ye see my face, -- ye all among whom I did go preaching the reign of God;

26 wherefore I take you to witness this day, that I [am] clear from the blood of all,

27 for I did not keep back from declaring to you all the counsel of God.

28 `Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the assembly of God that He acquired through His own blood,

29 for I have known this, that there shall enter in, after my departing, grievous wolves unto you, not sparing the flock,

30 and of your own selves there shall arise men, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

31 `Therefore, watch, remembering that three years, night and day, I did not cease with tears warning each one;

32 and now, I commend you, brethren, to God, and to the word of His grace, that is able to build up, and to give you an inheritance among all those sanctified.

33 `The silver or gold or garments of no one did I covet;

34 and ye yourselves know that to my necessities, and to those who were with me, minister did these hands;

35 all things I did shew you, that, thus labouring, it behoveth [us] to partake with the ailing, to be mindful also of the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.'

36 And these things having said, having bowed his knees, with them all, he did pray,

37 and there came a great weeping to all, and having fallen upon the neck of Paul, they were kissing him,

38 sorrowing most of all for the word that he had said -- that they are about no more to see his face; and they were accompanying him to the ship.

So, Nipper, I guess you aren't going to help us get any of the real, true, actual, prayer cloths? :sad:

The earth is spherical in shape and and God holds everything together with His power. The Bible speaks of people from Asia (see Acts 20), and clearly Australia though below Asia is often considered a portion of it . :ugeek:

What do you think a Oral Roberts prayer cloth is worth on the open market? What about a Kenneth Copeland one? I'm sure Oral costs more. At least, good oral does. :lol:

how is the four corners of a shape of earth?
(A sphere (from Greek σφαῖρα — sphaira, "globe, ball") is a perfectly round geometrical object in three-dimensional space that is the surface of a completely round ball, (viz., analogous to a circular object in two dimensions).)

see Quadrilateral (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadrilateral)
In Euclidean plane geometry, a quadrilateral is a polygon with four edges (or sides) and four vertices or corners. Sometimes, the term quadrangle is used, by analogy with triangle, and sometimes tetragon for consistency with pentagon (5-sided), hexagon (6-sided) and so on.
The origin of the word "quadrilateral" is the two Latin words quadri, a variant of four, and latus, meaning "side".

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. (king james, Mormon van out)

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four messengers, standing upon the four corners of the land, holding the four winds of the land, that the wind may not blow upon the land, nor upon the sea, nor upon any tree; (young's; littlenipper's pet)

LittleNipper wrote:The Bible speaks of people from Asia (see Acts 20), and clearly Australia though below Asia is often considered a portion of it .
considered by whom?

reference to australia, please... a direct one to the list below
hints:
australia
aussie
new zealand
kiwi
antarktica (atlantis is welcomed)

LittleNipper wrote:The Bible speaks of people from Asia (see Acts 20), and clearly Australia though below Asia is often considered a portion of it
as pi is three
old egyptians handled it as 22/7, which is 1.0004 of pi; 0.04% more than the actual value (compare the size of great pyramid; 0.03 foot)
the Bible (your pet...) writes:
1 Kings 7:23. And he maketh the molten sea, ten by the cubit from its edge unto its edge; [it is] round all about, and five by the cubit [is] its height, and a line of thirty by the cubit doth compass it round about;
pi is three; students of american high schools will be happy

but... australia is part of asia
1. it is not
2. no reference in Bible to australia

please quote something from your pet ylt version about australia, new zealand or antarktica (atlantis is welcomed)

LittleNipper wrote:The Bible speaks of people from Asia (see Acts 20), and clearly Australia though below Asia is often considered a portion of it .
then, you can easily find a lot of reference to australia as part of asia (anywhere below, as australia appears below asia; you know, that stupid cartographer say it differently

in ylt?
in kjv?

please copy and paste - the only thing you can do

One can either simply ridicule the Bible and gain nothing or seek to understand it and mature spiritually.
