WD, I prepared quite a lengthy response to you and it seems to have vanished into the vastness of the internet. So here is the Reader's Digest version:

When Lemmie CFRs you, I take that as her way of telling you the facts probably don't back up your opinion (especially in the case of sexual development in children). There are a lot of really smart posters here that are much better versed in childhood development than me (paging Jersey Girl) and I hope they will take the time to show you where you are off-base.

That said here are some good jumping off points for you in learning how a 12 year old could think she is attracted to the same sex.

From the American Academy of Pediatrics, a wonderful paper on orientation in adolescents.
Because self-awareness of sexual orientation commonly occurs during adolescence, the pediatrician should be available to youth who are struggling with sexual orientation issues and support a healthy passage through the special challenges of the adolescent years.

And here, a chart with development milestones with some excerpts relevant to the conversation. (PDF warning).
10-12 year: games with peeing, sexual activity (e.g., strip poker, truth/dare, boy-girl relationships, flirting, some kissing, stroking/rubbing, re-enacting intercourse with clothes on)

Young (12 – 14): psychologically distance self from parents; identify with peer group; social status largely
related to group membership; social acceptance depends on conformity to observable traits or roles; need to be
independent from all adults; ambivalent about sexual relationships, sexual behavior is exploratory

ETA: Thank you, Jersey Girl. I figured you would probably want to jump in on this one.

Jonathan Swift wrote a satirical parody called:

A Complete Collection of genteel and ingenious Conversation, according to the most polite mode and method now used at Court, and in the best Companies of England.

But he just couldn't have kept up with Water Dog.

Oh, and by the way:

Now that this whole episode has made the national news, do you think that this is just the first of many such incidents at Fast & Testimony Meetings? Hmmm.

Lemmie, why would I need to "support" my opinions? I'm having a conversation here, not submitting a dissertation. I don't need to provide you with a book reference of other people's words to support something I say. You're an idiotic gnat. Go away. If you want to offer an alternative opinion, welcome, but f*** you and your incessant CFRs.

I asked for references of your statements of fact, as Xenophon noted, not your opinions.

It's probably a bit late for him to start learning that now, though. He's evidently reached the age where he just knows stuff.

Apparently.

I took some time on the now jettisoned Telestial thread to explain just a bit of how sexual orientation is developed. I'm a bit conflicted as to whether or not to try to make another run at it only on account of the fact that I need to choose to remain at least somewhat professional and choose to try teach and inform, or bang my head against the wall.

Some choices are not as easy as they might seem.

Haha. Dude, it goes so beyond that. I'm sorry, but no. Come on. We're adults. Let's be honest.

There is a huge difference between this

and this

a normal girly heterosexual LDS woman (recently exmo or not) does not go for the bull look. period. even chicks in biker gangs don't go for this look. haha. this isn't about short hair, she has a whole thing going on.

Nope. Just the beginning. Apostates/"wolves in sheep clothing," have found another loophole to be heard. They will have to make more policies and perhaps entirely do away with the cult testimonials to fix this to keep the faithful from hearing our apostate issues and voices. And I'm all in favor of it. Give em hell. The church reaps what it sows.

Your work is appreciated! Water Dog seems to really be fighting against the idea that, in conversations here, making a statement of fact is something he needs to be able to support, unlike an opinion.

If your head's not too bloody (!) and you have the time, just know there are readers out here who appreciate your well-established expertise and your references.

[MODERATOR NOTE: Everyone wants to discuss this in the Terrestrial Forum--as evidenced by two threads started here to continue the original one moved to the Telestial Forum--so the whole thing is now back with the two sub-threads merged into it for convenience's sake.

Individual Telestial-caliber words, phrases, etc. will be edited out as I have time.]
