Of course sex with a minor (under 16 where I am) should be dealt with by the legal penalties generally laid down for that.

Question. If a beautiful 22 year old (non-teacher) girl has consensual sex with a 15 year old boy, do you believe the 22 year old girl should go to prison and register as a sex offender for the rest of her life? For you does it strictly have to be 16 years and older? If so, is it because the age of consent in Utah is 16?

I do understand the law is the law and we should obey it, but it doesn't mean it is perfect. The reality is that many lawmakers believe sex before marriage is an abomination.

As a parent, I really want my children' teachers to have it clear in their heads that:

1. If they have sex with my kids, they will never teach again.

Including sex with protection?

I'd hope that case (2) would rarely apply in cases where a teacher in his or her twenties has a relationship with somebody aged 17/18, but of course it could happen.

Yes is rarely happens because a teacher would probably get life in prison for that here in the US.

You are showing people here you are not a good person with continued dishonest attacks in order to avoid admitting what you know about Joseph. I had always like your participation in other threads, but here it has been very despicable.

Smith and her goddamn father share the blame. It was the father that gave them permission. Now, in Utah the age of consent 16 year old when there is only a 3 year difference, but marriage is the exception. In Utah it is legal for an 38 year old man to marry a 15 year old girl with parental permission. Look at the stupid Utah law https://www.utcourts.gov/howto/marriage/. In many other states there is no legal age requirement for marriage.

When a 20 year old is sent to prison and is added on sex offender for having sex with a 15 year old it is because there was sex before marriage, but for many states it is okay for a 38 year old to have sex with his 15 year old spouse. So for the law the problem is sex before marriage, not the age. All because of religion. The system is all messed up.
