I'm fairly certain the only requiremennt that makes one an anti-Mormon is to simply tell the truth about it.

In the face of madness, rationality has no power - Xiao Wang, US historiographer, 2287 AD.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

I've been called an "anti-Mormon" so many times on this site I'm starting to believe it. I like to think I'm anti-stupidity (even my own).
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

He has, what I believe are honest and deeply felt objections to Mormonism, but he doesn't express them in a respectful manner. If you slap the anti-mormon label on him, you are simply going to miss who he is and why he feels and expresses himself the way he does.

And as a result one might miss that there are only a handful of people more knowledgeable about Book of Abraham issues then Shulem.

Xactly!

Anybody with any backbone is anti something sometimes. Smile and own it. What is the point of fussing about the category?

So Naidna, what is it that you really care about? You are willing to post at carm, an unpleasant place. Is there a reason? Is there something to clarify or is it a place to collect abuse?

Warning, the following comment may not be entirely literal. I think there are anti Mormons who are so narrow minded and nasty that they are hired by satan to push Mormons back into their safe and unquestioned space. Not that I think Mormonism is Satan's church but maintaining divisions such as Mormonism can sometimes serve his purpose of limiting the effectiveness of Christianity.(it weakens the Christianity both within and without Mormonism)

I'm sorry.

What?

The 'hired by Satan' thing is a nice touch, but I still don't think I get the message you are sending here. My fault, I'm sure. Chemo brain strikes again....

What ever you are dealing with, it is my sincere hope the outcome is good.

Best wishes on that fight.

"anti" simply means "opposed". If you want to claim that the person you are conversing with about Mormonism is anti, then you are claiming they are opposed to it. Opposed synonyms:

adj antagonistic
anti
antithetical
averse
disputed
hostile
inimical
opposing
battling
clashing
combating
conflicting
confronting
controverting
counter
crossing
defending
denying
disagreeing
disputing
exposing
facing
gainsaying
objecting
protesting
repelling
rival
warring
against
allergic
antipathetic
antonymous
at cross-purposes
at odds
contrary
defensive
dissentient
enemy
in opposition
incompatible
irreconcilable
obstructive
opposite
restrictive

This speaks for itself.

How does one really know if a "critic" is totally sincere or not? If anyone has a method for determining that, I'd love to hear it.

Thank you for posting that, grindael.

And for the record, I would like to state that I am against the Explanations of Facsimile No. 3 of the Book of Abraham.

Those lies tendered by Joseph Smith are an utter abomination! I'm glad they shot the bastard dead at Carthage. He deserved it.
