Is it anti-Mormon to question the actions and motives around the priesthood ban?

My definition of a TBM is someone who believes in all the words of the prophets. So when you say you do not believe in a God who requires belief in a global flood, or a literal Adam and Eve story or that God resides on Kolob and so on, that means you are not a TBM. You actually fall into the category of being a cafeteria Mormon who picks and choose what to believe.
Since you are fairly new to the board and might not get everyone's posting style, the above is meant to be some irony wrapped up in a bit of sarcasm.
...and you get to define "TBM," why, precisely? Now you have certainly been gentle in your criticism of my definition of "critic" (and there is NOTHING negative about being a critic; everybody should be one!) "anti" and "extreme anti," but if you can be critical of my definition of those terms, why do you get to define "TBM" without comment?
But 'picking and choosing' what to believe is what TBM's DO. Or rather, are supposed to do. We ARE supposed to examine, study and pray about everything, right? Get the confirmation of the Holy Ghost for beliefs?
It's not my fault that there are some Mormons who fail to do that and simply decide to believe everything they think their leaders have said...and even they are picking and choosing, you realize. That's both the best thing, and biggest problem with, Mormonism. WE are supposed to figure stuff out.

Welcome, Niadna honey, we are going to help you out of the church and you can learn what it's like to live a life of love all by yourself without the plastic LDS church telling you how to do it. Just love others because you want to and not because you're assigned to by the cult. You don't need the cult to live a wonderful life. You don't need Jesus either.
Of course I don't.
However, I do have my faith in Jesus the Christ and in the church, so I'm doing fine. I don't see why I have to give those things UP in order to have a 'wonderful life."

Straight from the mouth of a fool:
It's wrong to criticize leaders of the church, even if the criticism is true

I think that questioning the actions and motives around the priesthood ban is what got people praying for it to be lifted, and what finally got the revelation that GOT it lifted, is what I think.
I also think that it would be good for people to look a little closer...not at the ban, so much, as at the reaction of most Mormons to the LIFTING of it.
Not riots, but tears of joy. Not protests (mostly) but welcome.
I remember that morning very well, actually. I remember my own family's reaction.
And I do not think that any one man, even any one General Authority who has an opinion, speaks for the church as a whole. Do we need to respect what he says?
Yes.
Do we need to think about it?
Yes.
Do we, ultimately, have to treat those words as if they were canonized?
nope.

The point is you can have a wonderful life without relying on your dolly (Jesus) and your imaginary Father in Heaven making you feel guilty whenever you're feeling less than adequate. You can do it all by yourself. You can have a wonderful life all by yourself. You can also save a lot of money by robbing your imaginary Father in Heaven and keep your money and do whatever you want with it.
The LDS cult is a plastic religion that wants to control you in every way. How can you really be fulfilled and live a wonderful life doing that? Been there done that. It's miserable.
You want to be a happy and fulfilled Mormon? How can you when you aren't even allowed to masturbate? Don't you dare touch it or you're dirty!

You are quite right. I can.
But I can have an even more wonderful life with them. Why are you so intent on converting me to your POV?

Ha! I understand it was President Jimmy Carter and government officials that were warning the church that they better change if they want to maintain their tax exempt status. It was pressure from the world that forced the Mormon leaders to change their position. Revelation through an imaginary god had nothing to do with it. The Mormons were about to go through the meat grinder if they didn't lift their racial ban which was heralded as God's law by former Church Presidents.

You mean you're not already having a more wonderful life with them -- but have faith and hope that you "Can"? How do you know that you won't have a more wonderful life without them without trying?
You mentioned the temple earlier. The temple rites are some of the grossest cult symbols ever devised in modern times. It's crude and barbaric -- blood letting symbolism that is enough to make any sane person cringe. The Mormon endowment is evil stuff.
You're in a cult.

It's joyous watching people walk away from the Mormon cult. I want to help you do just that.
Are you contemplating the possibilities? Just what would it take to push you over the edge?
Do tell.
