I remember being pretty bitter about Clinton after the primaries, and was tempted to take that route. I remember the exact moment I changed my mind: the day I heard Drumpf publicly encourage the Russians to hack Clinton's server to find the "missing 30,000 emails." It struct me a treasonous thing to say then, and he's only gotten worse.

Oh, Kevin. You know they will!

Doubling down on The Stupid is SOP for Trump supporters. Ignorant name-calling is a point of pride for these guys.

I'm a big believer in the idea that Presidential elections are largely a referendum on the incumbent party. And this is especially true when a president is running for reelection. Because of that, virtually any candidate who is the challenger is as good as any other. The differences between them in outcomes is real, but smallish.

Because of that, I'm sure Clinton would have a realistic chance of winning if she was the nominee. But of the potential options, she's got to be one of the weaker ones at this point. I know it's tempting to buy into a "redo" narrative, but she still has problems with how she was covered in the 2016 cycle.

Strong candidates that aren't talked about as much:

1) Amy Klobuchar - Seriously. This is your ace.

2) Jay Inslee

3) John Hickenlooper

I'd power rank Warren #1 at this point out of the Democrat primary if Sanders came to his senses and realized his time had passed. As it stands, I think Warren might have her vote split by Sanders' infamous stubborness. Still, if I had to bet and we were drafting top candidates, she'd be my #1 overall. Bear in mind, Marco Rubio was my bet on who I thought was going to win out of the split Republican field in 2016. Split fields like this are hard to predict. I'm very worried that Joe Biden or Kamala Harris is going to win. Both are awful from my point of view. Cory "Actually, my question was more of a statement" Booker could end up being well positioned to squeeze out of a heavily split Democratic primary field because of his niche.

6. Sherrod Brown

Joe Biden, Cory Booker, and Sherrod Brown aren't women.

Tulsi Gabbard would be an interesting candidate.

Interesting?! There's the understatement of the year.

Combine attitudes toward females with a candidate that looks like she does? I don't know that I'd wish it on her, especially going against the pussy grabber.

After Obama won back in 2008, my conservative brother-in-law said "Oh well, we'll just have to win in 2012." To which I responded "Sure, but you better make sure you bring a grade-A rockstar to the table."

And we got Mitt Romney.

I don't know who the Democrats might run, but I do know that Trump ran the table against at least 15 other Republicans and Hillary Clinton. If the Democrats underestimate him again and bring anything less than a Grade-A rockstar to the table, I suspect they'll lose by an even bigger margin than in 2016.

As a conservative Californian, I have no personal fondness for Kamela Harris, but I have to admit that when she was questioning Kavanaugh, it occurred to me that she might make a very formidable opponent to Trump. I think that would be an interesting match-up.

I kind of think she's too well known. I remember bringing up her name a couple years ago and getting exaggerated groans from the guys I was speaking to. They may only have "Pocahantas" as a talisman, but there's no end to the crazy they will fabricate.

by the way, I'd be perfectly happy with Warren.

I think it has to be an African American woman. Support me for president or else you a bunch of racist misogynists.
“There were mothers who took this [Rodney King LA riots] as an opportunity to take some milk, to take some bread, to take some shoes ... They are not crooks.”

This liberal would be about socializing … uh, umm. … Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.

Trump was the least popular candidate to win his party's nomination. He's the first one in the history of the measure to have an underwater approval rating. The fact that he won in a field of 16 other Republicans was a testimony to his weakness, not his strength. He won because other voters who didn't like him split their votes against his opponents such that he was able to win state elections with a low ceiling of support. He barely won the Presidential election while getting only 46% of the vote, being fairly unpopular, and losing the popular vote by 3 million. He performed as one of the weakest candidates for the presidency to win, arguably ever. To compare that to Obama's popularity seems off.

Democrats don't need to bring a rockstar. They need to bring someone with a pulse and hope the media doesn't repeat the same mistakes it did last time and hope Trump isn't carried on a tide of continued economic stability.
