I support this.

Native American blood that goes 6 to 10 generations back. Hmm. The left never learns. I just don't get it. I don't get it. You just got your clock cleaned because you chose a horrible candidate. Now you want to do it all over again. This woman very obviously lied about being a native american. And in doing so she also committed what I thought was a huge liberal faux pas, cultural appropriation. How bad is the pool of candidates that this is who you go with?

I understand Warren. Her getting this test done and making a scene is a smart play. I mean, what else can she do? Even just a tiny drop of native DNA is enough, 0.19%, she can work with that, she can spin that. "heritage confirmed." Y'all should be the ones kicking Warren to the curb, not republicans. Defending this is at your own peril. Blows my mind that you lack the basic common sense to realize that.

I really do hope Warren runs and becomes the nominee. That would be glorious for the GOP.

I don't believe Warren benefited from affirmative action programs, but it does seem clear that her employers used her NA ancestry claim as evidence of their diversity. It's not a big deal, and never was a big deal, but the one person who has such a big problem with it is Trump. I just love how he calls her Pocahontas to score cheap political points with his dumb followers, and then when she follows through on the DNA test, his response is "Who cares?" You care, Trump. You and your dumb followers seem to care more than anyone else.

I love how the right is freaking out over this supposed lie of Warren's, which has zero consequences if it were false, but have no problem with the fact that Drumpf's a pathological liar about everything from collusion to nepotism, from crowd size to dick size.

Elizabeth Warren was vindicated and Trump was forced to expose himself yet again as a fraud because donating $1 million towards charity simply isn't something he'd ever do.

She quite obviously does have Native American heritage and she proved it. This means she lied about nothing. Only human garbage would call her a liar while saying Trump is the guy looking out for working Americans.

And part moron. She didn't claim anything "to get a job". DNA results show that she has Native American ancestry, which is what she has always said. Her family support her on this because they've all been told the same thing, that they have native American blood. That means she didn't lie even if it turned out she had zero in her DNA. No one ever said definitively how far back to started so bitching and moaning because he could have been 6 generations back is pointless.

I tell people I have Native American blood all the time just to see the look on their faces because I obviously don't look it.

But I'm 2% according to Ancestry.com, because my great-grandmother was native American.

The problem here is that she said she had American Indian blood. If Warren had said she was part black, the right would have believed her in a heartbeat, because then they could tap into their racist impulses to say she should be voted out (or locked up, depending on the Drumpf supporter). Ginning up racial animus against Native Americans is a harder sell.

This isn't really a thread on Warren's heritage. It's another thread about how Drumpf is a damned liar (and a fraud/cheap piece of crap), as is everyone who speaks in defense of him (you cannot defend him and tell the truth at the same time. He is indefensible).

Trump denied ever saying what there are multiple recordings of him saying. So there's that.

The Warren story is interesting. The first iteration of "gotcha" was that she benefited from affirmative action on the basis of a false claim on Native American ancestry. That would be sketchy behavior on her part and it was red meat for conservatives because it alligns with a narrative of affirmative action being a liberal plot to deceptively screw white people.

But that turned out to be false.Warren's accomplishments were not boosted by a claim of Native American ancestry. Most of her success predated it showing up and she was treated as white even after. It turns out she just claimed it as a point of pride on a basis of a family legend like, you know, lots of people do. Now we know that family legend is as least *plausible* based on genetic evidence.

While I am sure there are still plenty of conservatives who are still on board with the affirmative action complaint, the attack has morphed to just mocking her for thinking she's an Indian. It's wild. Trump takes it the furtherest by taking someone well thought of in American lore and turning her name into a racial insult.

What really gets me right now though isn't Trump lying about what he said, the racial attacks, or the repetition of long debunked false stories. What gets me is now both Warren and Obama have had to prove their heritage to calm a campaign against them aided by a quasi-complicit press. Meanwhile, Trump won't even release his tax returns and that fact gets less persistent press pressure than birtherism did at its high point.

(This is because mainstream media's narrative choices are influenced by what's pushed in the very sizeable right-wing press.)
