I know I know. It's nuance. Racism isn't scientific, but cultural. Funny how it's always shoehorned into the narrative when it works against the GOP.
You think that racism can't be real if race is a social construct? People can't have beliefs and attitudes about socially constructed categories? Care to explain that argument more? Do you also think that math can't exist if you anti-realist about numbers?

I don't really understand how consistently retarded you manage to be, but goddamn if you don't pull it off. You take a perfectly understandable point and manage to “F” it to death. It's to the point that whatever abortion of a retort you think you're making comes out as gibberish.

Harvard University intentionally uses a vague “personal rating” to reject Asian-American applicants in favor of students from other racial backgrounds, according to a trial that started Monday and carries weighty implications for dozens of other U.S. colleges.
Harvard’s legal team denied any discrimination in its opening statement at Boston’s federal courthouse, saying race is just one factor that’s considered and can only help a student’s chances of getting admitted.
Harvard, in the middle of a lawsuit regarding its race-based admissions policies, clearly dropped the ball by not inviting our favorite totes-not-a-Democrat Libertarian Socialist to testify on their behalf that race doesn't exist, except when it does.
"EA's Gambit", a.k.a. as "It Only Counts if White People Do It" could be an interesting take on how to simultaneously accept and deny that something exists as long as it doesn't benefit Whites or Asians of a Certain Persuasion.

The first lines imply a contradiction between the idea that racism is real and that race is a social construct. Since there is no contradiction there, you tell me what you are trying to troll with.
The second bit doesn't understand what scientific racism is. Suffice to say, the idea that authentic native American status is best understood in terms of size of genetic admixture derives from the same ideas about race that were concerned with purity of racial categories. There are other ways to catagorize who counts as a member of a quasi-sovereign tribe.

Yeah, it's clear that you don't understand that race being a socially determined category rather than a fact of nature doesn't preclude the existence of racism because mental categories are things that people can have beliefs about. Like if taxonomic boundaries are socially constructed, which is a popular view, that doesn't mean it becomes gibberish to say, "Susan is afraid of spiders." That statement then just means Susan is afraid of the artifical, fuzzy boundaried, mental category of things we call "spiders."
This is quite embarrassing, either as a troll attempt or as a sincere thought.

Can we at least agree that ethnicities exist?
No, and yes.
No, ethnicities do not exist in the same way that chemical elements or blood groups do. They are not susceptible of being meaningfully assigned amongst a range of discrete values as a result of simple physical tests.
Yes, they do exist, but as a complex mixture of genetic descent, and of people's selective (sometimes deliberately selective) recollections of their family history, and of their choice of how they wish to be identified - and sometimes, sadly, of how others insist on identifying them. And unlike chemical elements or blood groups, the borders of ethnicities are hard to define and subject to negotiation of various kinds. As, no doubt, you will have noticed in the course of a long life in a mixed society.

I wonder what Warren was thinking when she decided to claim to be part native american? Maybe religious thinking and a desire to believe in family myth overcame her? UPenn and Harvard claim it didn't help her with those institutions, although satisfying some quota had to be the thinking on her part. Too bad it could potentially sink her presidential run so early in the process. We all know that Trump won't let it go if Warren is a contender and defending 1/64 to 1/1024 might be too high of a mountain against Clinton's resurrected corpse in 2020. She needs to get another test done probably, and from a group that uses north american tribes as controls (cherokee perhaps?) instead of tribes from Mexico, Peru, and Columbia. However, one would assume that several tests were done, confidentially, and this was the best one? Even so, a lot of americans can claim some native american ancestry, as Warren has, but don't because they don't think 1.6% to as little as .1% is anything remarkable. Hell, I thought of getting a little of the casino money back in the day (I have a Native American ancestor from around the time of Warren's) until they starting making one prove that one had at least 1/16th.

Humans live and interact in groups. No revelation there.
But the basis of identity is something else. It can literally be anything. From your skin color to your hair style to your religion to where you live to who your friends are to the car you drive to the food you eat to the place you were born to your genitalia to your temperament to the language you speak to the time you live in to your body size to the sports you watch to the comics you read to...
Differences can be conflicting or complementary. That's the rub.

You are a black African EAllusion, like the rest of us. White, black, yellow or red. They are meaningless designations (I suspect you know this, already).
You can take a DNA test (no blood involved, just spit) that will tell you your more recent ancestry, but we are all African to start with. If you are Irish, you will probably have a little Neanderthal DNA in there, but they came from Africa, as well. We are all related (even Ajax and Subgenius).
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
