But keep in mind

Nature Research journals receive many more submissions than they can publish. Therefore, we ask peer-reviewers to keep in mind that every paper that is accepted means that another good paper must be rejected. To be published in a Nature Research journal, a paper should meet four general criteria: Provides strong evidence for its conclusions.

Kossin may be full of it, but we shouldn't dismiss his work.

We shouldn’t dismiss it. We shouldn’t say it proves anything. It’s an interesting theory. Let’s see how it pans out.

Yes, Nature is a top notch journal. That’s not any guarantee that the results will hold up under post publication peer review.

Would it be possible for some of the posters on this thread to give at least some outline of an indication of what qualifications or experience they have that justifies the confidence with which they evaluate the current state of research in the fields to which reference has been made?

Why don't you start?

If you mean confidence that the effect of global warming on tropical storms is an area of dispute within the relevant scientific community, then I’m relying on the literature and statement by the scientists. I guess that makes reading my qualification.

He reminds me of ldsfaqs and BC Space. Are we sure all 3 accounts aren't the same person?

Right, but I don't know what you mean by "proves anything". How do you define proof? It is an interesting theory that is consistent with the data.

Just using proof in contrast with dismissal. One puts too much weight on the study. The other too little.
