This is a thread about whether the President of the United States has spoken in a highly derogatory and prejudiced manner about black people. Do you seriously doubt the truth of Cohen's account of his experience relative to that topic?

Doc, you post a variety of view which on occasion I feel sympathetic to. I think this video you post here makes an interesting point and shows the ignorance about urban black Americans held by white young people who know little about them. This is miles short of the claim that they are more fundamentally racist. Well more racist than who would make a difference. Perhaps they are more racist than they like to think of themselves. One thing that came to my mind is that he is interviewing Black Americans in New York city not rural south. It is probably a prejudice of mine about rural south that causes me to wonder if responses about voting and id would be different there.But I have never been in the rural south and know no Black people from there.
Thinking of a few of your comments I wonder if you have not become a bit grumpy of late. Election and Trump make you irritable and or perhaps hitting the Scotch a bit more lately?

And, as DrC has pointed out, this is in any case a thread specifically about claims that the President of the United States has repeatedly spoken about black people in a racist and demeaning way. Other people may or may not be racist too, but that is by the by in the present context.

During my time in the Army and in particular living in the South I got to know quite a few Black folk from the rural South. Anecdotally, I found them to be congenial, sober minded, and as competent (and intelligent, whatever that means) as anyone else. The cariacture of Southern folks as stupid, incompetent, and dull is incredibly offensive and misses the mark by a country mile, as it were.
Also, as far as drinking goes, I haven't touched the stuff since May 2017. And vodka was my preferred intoxicant. No, Sir, I'm just a straight up asshole. A sober one at that.
