Re: What are the new changes to the Endowments?

When our kids were still at home, I usually had some sort of calling in the ward, like a scout leader, young men advisor, or something in the youth sports programs. I was even called to be a hallway monitor in seminary when my middle son was attending a early morning class full of teenage boys who did not want to be there. During that time my wife would also have a calling in the ward. Every time she was about to get a new calling I would be asked, before she knew about the new calling, if she had my permission to take that calling. My response was "You need to ask her." She never was asked for her permission for my callings.

Now it is much more clear and doesn’t require single women to have an imaginary husband. They only cleaned up the language for heaven’s sake. It’s not like they removed the law of chastity.

The initiatory has been changed for women. Now, instead of queen and priestess "unto your husband," it's something more egalitarian. Not queens and priestesses unto God specifically, but queen and priestess "with your husband" or something to that effect.

I think these changes are significant. The old temple ceremony's symbolism repeatedly put the man between God and his wife. That seems to have been eliminated.

The changes are evidence that the Church responds to activism.

Women — and men — are embracing the sweeping changes implemented this week at the faith’s 161 temples across the globe.
Members report that the newly shortened endowment ceremony, for instance, includes more inclusive language and removes wording and other elements that had been seen as “sexist.”
“If you ask any faithful feminist what she wanted to change, these hit the entire checklist,” a woman who attended the Philadelphia Temple told The Tribune. “Every single complaint was addressed and fixed in a meaningful way. This was not a baby step; it was like a leap forward.”

God has responded to the complaints of faithful feminists.

We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

And, according to some feminists, there are family members who are dissappointed in the church for "caving" to feminist sensibilities.

I would find it amusing if the increased temple attendance of the faithful feminists were to be offset by a decline in attendance from those members who disagree with the Church moving away from the "traditional" Mormon view of male and female roles.

The ordination of women to the Priesthood is now a step closer.

They have added a new Hosanna Shout in the World Room and a Sacred Whistle to get into the Celestial Kingdom. The Sacred Whistle is hand whittled from Bison horns - because a GA has a relative in South Dakota who makes them.

It’s interesting that many endowed members who visit the temple will think and believe they are having a new experience, and will feel personally attached to the updated covenants and forms of the temple.... that they are performing as proxy for a dead person.

Strictly speaking, the changes only apply to new endowments I would think, but the ceremony is designed in such a way that I think most members who are performing forget that they are doing proxy work and apply it heavily to themselves, as is the expectation. I’m convinced that is why repeat visits are so emphasized.

The temple is an obedience machine.
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

Those women who took their own endowment out and covenanted to obey their husbands, are they still under covenant to do so?

Or can the President unilaterally and retrospectively change the covenants of all those people who have took them out previously without their agreement to do so?

President NelSatan can do whatever he wants with the Mormon Cult Temple Endowment. Anything he adds or takes away is just more cult garbage. Mormons love their secret (sacred) garbage. It gives them purpose. It makes them feel special. It makes them feel like they are pleasing their Heavenly Father (Anus Man) and making Jesus extra happy.
