Yes. But this is yet another example of the tendency of certain kinds of political discourse to degenerate into memes, either rhetorical, or (as in the two posts preceding yours) graphical. Complex argumentation and the expression of anything less than certainty are seen as signs of weakness and a wish to deceive the honest and straight-thinking citizen.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a Sanders style socialist, which means that she is angling for something similar to, but to the right of Scandinavian socialism. But claiming the US will devolve into the hellscape that is Denmark or Sweden doesn't quite work, so Venezuela it is. Ajax types aren't sharp enough to see it, but people who are open to those policy arguments can notice that Denmark isn't Venezuala and if the only serious argument against it is "Omg, Venezuala!" that makes it seem like there are no good reasons for free market policies and pushes people into the arms of left-wing politics.
