Trump's "Non-Starter"

Fact-checking Trump's border speech and DACA offer

DJT: "One in three women is sexually assaulted on the dangerous journey north."

As opposed to two in three women who come in contact with the President?

What did you think of his speech? I couldn't hear the whole thing because the feed kept cutting out. I will try to view it soon here.

So let me get this straight. Mitch McConnell refused to put a bill on the floor that had already passed the House because he said it was pointless since the President didn't agree to sign it. But now he "pledges" to Trump that he will let them vote on a bogus bill that has no chance of passing the House? Yes, Mitch McConnell is nothing short of Trump's puppet. He doesn't understand the separation of powers and doesn't understand that Congress can pass a budget and end the shutdown without the President.

They COULD if Mitch would allow the bill to come to the floor for a vote. There are already something like 8 Republicans in the Senate who have crossed the aisle to support it, they need 67 to override a veto. But Mitch is far more loyal to Trump than he is to the Constitution or the American people.

If they come up short a few, then Republican Senators who didn't vote for it would be put under the spotlight and perhaps their constituents could sway enough to vote yes.

I don't know enough about House Senate procedure to google this for an answer, so perhaps someone here can answer this question. Can Mitch McConnell single-handedly prevent a bill from coming to the floor for a vote?

Senate, not the house, and yes.

Senate, not the house, and yes.

If you want to get super technical, his authority to do this derives from being the majority leader, which requires the on-going consent of the Republican caucus.
