Of course Democrats will agree to fund some additional physical barrier. The Democrats want things on immigration, too. Horse trading is how this works.

That sounds encouraging. But Mark Levin points out that in 1986 2.3 million illegal immigrants were given amnesty in exchange for a border fence. They got their amnesty and the fence never got funded. I have a hard time believing it will actually get done unless the president uses executive privileges.

I don’t think Levin’s correct. I can’t find any reference to fences or barriers in connection with the ‘86 immigration reform. There was a call for more officers that wasn’t funded until later. Fences were legislated years later.

All Trump has to do is make sure the legislation that implements the deal includes funding.

Hmm, we’ve got over 500 miles of tall fencing in place now. Is she gonna introduce a bill to remove it because it’s immoral? Mr. Trump! Tear down that wall!! If she really thought it was immoral, wouldn’t she do that?

The thing is, she never said what she meant by “wall”, so she’s free to use any of Trump’s definitions. That gives both of them an opportunity to portray themselves as winners. And that’s how crap gets done.

So now you're cool with negotiating after Trump takes the dreamers as hostages? What's the difference between that and federal workers getting pay? I'm not certain Trump would ever in a million years give DACA kids a path to citizenship. We saw how Stephen Miller talked him out of that during his first year in office.
