Mormon Romney - Evangelical Trump

Post by _moksha »

Because Mormon's had their Romney, do you suppose that is why Evangelicals have adopted Trump? Liberty University even went so far as to make a film called The Trump Prophecy, in which they more or less tout Trump as "the chosen one". Do you think they are trying to create an Evangelical version of the LDS gift of discernment?

Maybe Romney and Trump can rumble at Mt. Carmel for the title of Ultimate Chosen One. Current title holder Elijah could officiate.

Maybe "god" chose Trump, like he chose Bush, supposedly? God supposedly led David and Saul around while they attacked and killed so why not now?

Watch out Venezuela and Iran ..... God's messengers are coming to collect .... and steal your resources.

(condensed)

I can see similarity to Saul. Not so much David.

In 1 Samuel 18 Saul makes David the head general over the army and women start a saying that Saul slayed his thousands but David slayed his tens of thousands. This made Saul jealous as he wanted the glory that comes from mass killing and David was getting it instead.

Exiled, I can think of two positive accomplishments of Trump so far. He has not yet wrecked the economy, only seriously endanger it, and second he has not started a war yet.

Do you think Trump is the chosen one or called to be president by God like the OP says evangelicals believe? I think he got elected merely because enough hated Hillary. Anyway, Trump is following the empire playbook and trying to overthrow the Venezuelan government .... for the oil as Bolton admitted. Iran is in the offing.

I think Trump was chosen by a Satanic brew of lust and self pity.

Maksutov I do not have anything against attempting to clarify but humor me please. I am un sure how my simple comment finds obscurity needing explanation. I wonder if there is some assumption as to what I should mean which hides my comment.

Or perhaps you are wondering how such common human reactions should come together now to select Trump. I remember having a distinct impression that this guy could become president a few years before the election. I had no sense that God was choosing this. Instead a dark undercurrent of human emotions and fantastical desires could attach to this persons projection of himself .

But why now?? Rising property costs crushing the security and expectations of many people could ignite anger?
