Who is saying that light rail must or even can entirely replace air travel? Light rail and bullet trains work very well in Europe, Japan and China. They are an economically viable option in certain areas and circumstances. Why can't they be added to the mix of travel options available to Americans? Do you think Americans inherently lack the ingenuity and engineering skills to make them a viable and attractive option here as well?
Besides that, light rail, at least, already works well in quite a number of American cities.

The "Green New Deal" is a Green Dream, but compared to the Russian/White Nationalist Dream of Trump, it's at least equally deserving of consideration.
I feel about this like I do about the Parkland kids. I don't think they have many answers but their voices are important and the status quo sucks. We've heard enough excuses, evasions and threats from the NRA. Same for the folks willing to fill our water, air and earth with endless crap.

Good thing that the final copy doesn’t have those parts in it about eating aborted babies and outlawing Christianity, but most Trump voters already believe that Democrats want to do those things. Not sure if stating a preference for weaning off of fossil fuels some day can top those.
