We’ve seen pretty good examples of misleading summaries during the investigations attempting to discredit the investigation before it was completed. And I have a healthy level of distrust for an administration that looks in the camera and lies on almost a daily basis. So I’m doubting Thomas until I see the report.

I hope the summary is fair and accurate. I would feel better knowing that the AG put the country and not the President first.

RI is this summary what you are wanting or am I not understanding?

That's Barr's summary of the conclusions. I may be wrong, but I read Res as wishing for a summary of the evidence, who they talked to, what was said, etc.

Okay, honor. I clearly misunderstood.

For example, the term "Russian-affiliated individuals" who apparently made multiple offers to assist the Trump campaign is one of those phrases that begs for detail. Why Russian-affiliated rather than just Russian? Do Manafort or Flynn count as a Russian-affiliated individual but were somehow or other outside the boundaries of the campaign? Does this include the Trump Tower meeting where Donnie Jr. went in expecting that sort of assistance but reported he was instead given a line about adoptions? If so, how did the SC go about sorting out who did what under whose direction to what aim? There are a lot of details missing that would be meaningful to have outlined at the very least.

honorentheos wrote:That is on top of the section on obstruction of justice which basically says there is a lot involved with several high bars that would need to be met made all the more difficult due to the subject being the President of the United States that inserts many more unique and legally opaque issues on top of them. The bars may or may not be met by the evidence, so the report neither exonerates nor asserts the President from having engaged in criminal activity in terms of trying to obstruct justice. But AG Barr and DAG Rosenstein concluded there was not sufficient evidence to establish the President committed a crime largely because the President wasn't demonstrated to have been involved in criminal conspiracy with the Russians so there was no underlying crime with which he was interfering.

Wow. Just plain wow.

Rosenstein was directly involved in the firing of Comey and Barr is the AG specifically because he auditioned for the job criticizing the in principle possibility that President Trump could obstruct justice. It seems like a slam dunk case for them to recuse themselves from making their own obstruction finding, yet here we are. Congress will have to make that determination.

A two year investigation summarized in 48 hours.... and the obstruction charge basically thrown out because Barr determined there was no underlying crime of conspiracy or collusion with the Russian GOVERNMENT. So because they felt there was no crime, there is no obstruction. This isn't going to satisfy anyone except Trump & his sycophants.

I, for one, am reassured to know that President is probably not knowingly a Russian agent. I'm a little disappointed that the prosecutors don't think they could make the obstruction charges stick, but I'm content to accept their judgement on the matter.

Overall, the results of the investigation were very satisfying. Quite apart from nailing several administration cronies for perjury and money laundering, Mueller indicted many Russian spies and exposed much of Russia's effort to compromise our democracy.

Now that Trump no longer has anything to fear from Mueller's findings, I'd like to see him and Congress work together to safeguard our elections from Russian interference and come up with a strategy to win this clandestine war we're fighting.
