Around that time I did say that by his actions and what he writes about the Maori does amount to cultural appropriation. So in a very gentle way I was saying he was showing some racism, but nothing that is out of line with his peers. Although his recent outbursts towards my criticism of his review, and his Martin Luther King diatribe pretty much shows what type of man he is.

Thankfully those attitudes and beliefs are found more and more shut up in a home waiting for meals on wheels to come by. Or are in a nursing home dying out.

I found all the remarks above more than a little amusing, especially since I have recently had a very minor brush with one of the malevolent stalker's very, very minor disciples, who on 20 October 2019 announced on Dan's blog that I "must surely have disdained the brown skinned Maori among whom I served and must have held them in arrogant contempt."

Dan Peterson - Tonight, I saw a claim asserted in the same region of the Internet, quite out of the blue, that my friend and colleague Louis Midgley, who served a youthful mission in New Zealand and then returned there decades later with his wife to direct the LDS Institute of Religion in Auckland, must surely have disdained the brown skinned Maori among whom he served and must have held them in arrogant contempt.

These two quotes are a bit puzzling because Professor Midgley seemed to be pretty adamant that the Maori were Nephites in his paper. It seems the two with their comments are "muddling" the brown skin of the Lamanites which everyone knows is the "sign of the curse." With the pure and delight-some Nephite blood.

I imagine Ancestry.com is in a quandary every time they receive a DNA request from New Zealanders and other Pacific Islanders. Do they send them something conforming to the LDS story of their ancestors being Nephites cursed with Asianism, or do they send them the real findings and risk being stalked by Dr. Midgley?

Okay, but only since you asked nicely. 30 scientists are in a submarine that can only sustain life for twenty-five. The five most moral scientists step forward and volunteer to be ejected through the torpedo hatch. Tranquility and equilibrium are restored to the submarine. But wait... there is a hitch. Submarine enthusiast and most moral of all political scientists, Dr. Louis Midgley catches word on this and does a dramatic haka dance which runs the submarine aground. Armed with Google maps, he hunts down each surviving scientist and puts the fear of God in them, pummeling them with homilies until they confess and convert on the spot. Take that Sam Harris!!!

Prof. Lewis is so eloquent here, and resentful. It's as though a worldview, that he cherished, he in turn began to see as slipping away. There is a sadness and envy in his tone.

Lou sorry, but I'm a busy trial attorney, an old one, and I recently wrapped up a trial, and commence another one on Monday. I check in on Dan's site every few days, some times I have to let a week or two go by. It's the only one I comment on from time to time. I meant to refer to C.S. Lewis. by the way, I always enjoy your comments, though I think you wrangle, occasionally, too much with the needle-some naysayers on here. But, maybe not... when it comes to religion and politics, I'm just not argumentative.
