1. Repatriation, but now border control means something.canpakes wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 4:04 pmFixed that for you.subgenius wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 12:23 pm

2. Recommended yes, not legally able to enforce (stupid 10th amendment still bothers ya, amiright?)
3. Recommended yes, not legally able to enforce (stupid 10th amendment still bothers ya, amiright?)
4. Recommended yes, not legally able to enforce (stupid 10th amendment still bothers ya, amiright?)
5. I missed the part where he was forced...got a source for that claim of yours, or should we just put it on your usual pile of baseless assertions?
6. When have actual reporters bothered to show up for those briefings? And clearly you have yet to ever watch even one of those briefings, sans whatever tweet clip John Oliver wrote a joke about. Probably because you still wrestle with the reality that a colored fella could be a Surgeon General.
7. So, yes - China's fault.
How appropriate that your input is considered as a "fix".

OK. So you were just lying in the earlier post. Good to see you coming clean here.subgenius wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 4:15 pm1. Repatriation, but now border control means something.

Nah, we can put this one in the bin of Presidential kowtowing to common sense and public opinion when doing otherwise looked like it might cost him the votes of enough folks outside of his Base. ; )5. I missed the part where he was forced...got a source for that claim of yours, or should we just put it on your usual pile of baseless assertions?
You know, these briefings can be streamed from a half-dozen web sources, so your butthurt claims here are humorous at best. And maybe you should check in with the White House to ask them why you believe that they elect to pack the audience of their press briefings with folks who are not press (are you referring to OANN?). Return and report.6. When have actual reporters bothered to show up for those briefings? And clearly you have yet to ever watch even one of those briefings, sans whatever tweet clip John Oliver wrote a joke about. It was China’s fault that Trump was unable to act competently? What was it this time? Secret mind control beam? Unrealized trade deals? Bank of China financing required for a future Trump project?7. So, yes - China's fault.

Re: EXPOSED: The WHO's Bungled Covid Response
Politico has a leaked copy of a GOP memo on messaging strategy over coronavirus:
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/2 ... rus-207244
It relies heavily on emphasizing attacking China and playing up the China travel ban. On the efficacy of the travel ban, it exempted the vast majority of people who routinely travel from China to the United States. So 10's of thousands of people came from China to the US after the "ban" was in effect. Because of how the math of infectious spread works, sealing the borders only works if you completely or, with some luck, near-completely lock out the possibility of contagious people coming over. See this Washington Post illustration to understand how that works:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics ... simulator/
That didn't happen with the China travel ban for several reasons. First, the aforementioned ban not actually banning most travelers. Second, because the disease had already spread outside of China and was arriving to US shores from other entry points. The majority of New York cases of COVID are likey descended from viruses that came from Europe:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/08/scie ... nomes.html
Third, because there was already domestic community spread of the disease before the travel ban went into effect. You can't keep out what is already inside.
Because of this, at best all the travel restrictions could do is slow down the rate of spread in the initial part of the outbreak. Subgenius elsewhere has demonstrated an inability to understand exponential growth, but if you do and understand the multiplication rate of this particular pathogen, that only buys you a little time in the best scenario.
What did Trump do with that time? Mostly downplay the disease and avoid adequate preparation measures recommended both externally and internally that has led to far more deaths than there needed to be and deeper economic pain than there needed to be. Trump cares about self-preservation, so it's not like he wanted this outcome. It's just that because he and the people around him can only think short term with a fraught relationship with scientific information, the result is an absolute disaster brought about by this incompetence. Gotta prop up the stock market for a few days not realizing that thousands upon thousands of people dying is, eventually, gonna be a more serious economic issue. That's requiring pathetic defenses like, "WaHT aBoUT tHe TRaVel bAn?!"
If I recall, Hannah Arendt once explained that authoritarian regimes breed incompetence because loyalty the leadership is the utmost prized trait and incompetence acts as a guarantee of loyalty. We're seeing that play out in real time with the Trump regime.

Yeah:
"Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty." - Hannah Arendt explaining Trumpland in a nutshell.
