The truly sad part is that it actually took a court ruling for people to figure that out.ajax18 wrote:A court has ruled that Mayor Bill De Blasio and Gov. Cuomo no longer get to chose which causes get to keep their 1st amendment rights during Covid.

That's not what the ruling says. It's a 25% capacity limit on indoor gatherings for religious services. The ruling argues that comparable secular indoor gatherings were given a higher limit (50%), thus placing an undue burden on religious indoor gatherings. The devil is in the details of "comparable." Since the protests are outdoor gatherings, they have nothing to do with this.ajax18 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 2:51 amA rare judicial victory for religion. To bad we may not keep our right to go to work as well. But I guess earning a living isn't as important as getting CHAZ up and running.

Does it ever bother you that your media sources constantly lie to you? Like, even a little bit?

If it's about outdoor versus indoor gatherings, wearing masks or not, then there should be no reason we can't have the US Open tennis and golf, football season, etc.The ruling argues that comparable secular indoor gatherings were given a higher limit (50%), thus placing an undue burden on religious indoor gatherings. The devil is in the details of "comparable." Since the protests are outdoor gatherings, they have nothing to do with this.
We're all going to get infected. That's unavoidable. Shutting down the economy again and banning people from doing their jobs again after allowing massive protest marches during quarantine is unacceptable. Who do you think pays the bills that gives these protesters so much free time?I suppose you church folks could have really had a moment to show your inspiration by setting the example, but if your idea of winning is mass infecting yourselves, have at it mofos.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Uh-huh.
So the US has a total of about 128,000 COVID-19 deaths so far, from an infection level of less than 10% or so. If you go up to 100% infection rate, that would suggest total deaths of the order of 10 million.
And your attitude to that is ... what? "Hey, whaddya gonna do? Win some, lose some."?
So you think people only take part in such events when they don't lose any money from doing so? So even for something you considered really key to what you care about (say, getting Trump re-elected) you would never take the afternoon off work and say "To hell with the money! This is about principles." Bet you would. And believe me, there are plenty of people who feel the same way about the rate of killing of black people by the police.

It's not inevitable and this outcome hasn't come close to happening in the majority of the world. Aren't you ever even a little curious about what's happening in countries outside of the US?ajax18 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 11:43 am

Golf and Tennis as a spectator sport probably can exist just fine in a modified form. Football would be hard to pull off safely. The ruling concerns rules regarding indoor gatherings, though, which you falsely described. How come?

Trump likes to brag how he banned travel from China. Now we're the one that's being banned because we're so effed up with the virus. Ain't nobody going nowhere. Hey Mr. President. F.U.
