Oh no Fox news advertisers will go out of business without welfare queen patronage.Fu-cker Tarlson set a ratings record recently. The idiots in America are addicted to nonsense, and it's only getting worse.
There's only one group that I can justify advertising on Fox News, and that's the Lincoln Project. Anyone else who advertises on that channel should be boycotted.

And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

This sounded like something EA would have immediately picked up on... Tucker Carlson's headline was too reminiscent of a notorious white supremacist 14 word slogan.

Oh, I agree with you that there's no such thing as a righteous liar, but I don't think ajax necessarily agrees with that. He must know deep down inside that much of what he says just isn't true. Religious practitioners of all sorts have been known to justify "lying for the Lord" in order to protect or promote what they regard as the core principles of their religion and actions based on them, while ignoring the question, "If your core beliefs are really true, why do you need to lie in order to defend them?" It's like what the great Physicist Steven Weinberg was fond of saying:Some Schmo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 2:17 pm...which would be as delusional as anything he's ever written here. There's no such thing as a righteous liar. Nobody on this forum (except the people I've put on ignore) is as consistently and blatantly dishonest as ajax is. He's almost as pathological a liar as Trump himself. He exists in a complete fantasy of his own warped making.
I wouldn't necessarily characterize ajax as a good person, but I have little doubt that he thinks he is.“Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”

No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

"Somehow DeSean Jackson, Stephen Jackson, Kevin Durant and JR Smith praising Hitler is getting less coverage than Drew Brees' comments."
There seems to be an undercurrent of anti-Jewish whatever flowing through the Black community. It's interesting because white racists don't consider Jews "white" (and to be fair Jews play around with their "whiteness" - sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't), and more than a few Black Americans, probably influenced by the Nation of Islam (and I think some Black Christian identity movements? - not sure) seem to feel Jews are pitting whites and blacks against each other.
Anyway. I don't really have a commentary on whether or not there's any legitimacy to any of those types of undercurrents. Why I'm posting this is there is a strong Black Identity movement gaining momentum, and they seem rather open about their viewpoints, which, ironically mirror some of the White Identity movements with regard to Jews.
Crazy times.

It just goes to show, there is likely no worse guide for morality than religion. To even preach religion is immoral, because you can't do it without fundamentally lying, whether to yourself or others.Gunnar wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 6:10 pmOh, I agree with you that there's no such thing as a righteous liar, but I don't think ajax necessarily agrees with that. People will argue nonsense like, My religion preaches love. How can you dispute that?
The answer is easy. So? You don't need religion to love. To suggest so is a lie. To defend religion for its lies on the basis that it contains grains of truth also represents a big fu-cking lie.

Can't argue with that. That's precisely what Weinberg was refering to with his quote. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 6:28 pmIt just goes to show, there is likely no worse guide for morality than religion. Yet, I can think of a righteous justification for lying. Wouldn't you lie, if necessary, to hide or protect innocent people, especially your loved ones, from someone determined to do them harm, or even kill them?

Re: Systemic Racism: Fact or Myth?
Since that actually serves the well being of everyone in the scenario, sure. Lying to avoid serious physical harm seems justifiable. Lying to defend a bogus philosophy, on the other hand... well, you know.
I also don't have a problem with lying if it's in genuinely good fun, like in the case of entertainment, usually because everyone is in on the lie.
I just don't like lying with the intention of deceiving or as substitute for an argument. I've long felt that these kinds of liars are worthless human beings. What good is a relationship with someone you can't trust?

Religion. Yeah. Here's Jackson' religiously inspired post and his subsequent... uh... apology:

This is tricky stuff. As we've seen with Ajax and his ilk, there's no amount of common sense or unifying messages that can be made to stop them from seeing the Other as the Other. I have a feeling what's going on within the Black community is very similar to other communities in that the Othering of others is a real problem. I'd like to figure out a way to make feel people feel like we're in this thing together, but I'm unsure how to do it because it seems everyone is hellbent on fighting.

There are no peacemakers in American politics. It's mostly agitators and zealots.I'd like to figure out a way to make feel people feel like we're in this thing together, but I'm unsure how to do it because it seems everyone is hellbent on fighting.

Usually talking politics is a good way to lose friends permanently.
