Re: Rittenhouse Trial: Calling Res Ipsa
The most disturbing thing about the Rittenhouse case is not that he was acquitted. It's that the right wing is celebrating him as a hero. Several Republican members of Congress have offered to have him as an intern. One, Anthony Sabatini, is even Tweeting about creating "Kyle Rittenhouse Day" as a federal holiday. A 17-year-old took an automatic rifle into a zone where political protests had turned into chaos, then walked out after killing two protestors, and conservatives think that's not only something to excuse but something to celebrate.

Re: Rittenhouse Trial: Calling Res Ipsa
Cult,
don't be silly. He had an AR-15 with a 30 round clip. .223 rounds are the fastest, most accurate bullets around, which is why they are used to hunt coyotes running around the desert at 40 mph. They are little different from the rounds used in M-16 machine gun; the "workhorse" of the people-killers on the battlefield. If that other gun is so effective, Scott Holmes would have used it in Aurora in lieu of the AR-15 with a high-capacity clip.
If there is a legal gun you want to carry around to show that you have the power to kill a whole lot of people, it's the AR-15. Not that other piece of crap. The verbiage doesn't really matter. He was carrying around a high-capacity people killer that basically differs from a war-time machine gun in that it is semi-automatic and not fully. In that particular situation, the M-16 and AR-15 are equivalent because it's unlikely you'd want the M-16 in full auto mode anyway.
It's a highly recognizable gun and everyone knows what it's for. The legal definition unlikely matters to the people in his relative proximity. The intimidation factor is based on what the people around him can see.

Social distancing has likely already begun to flatten the curve...Continue to research good antivirals and vaccine candidates. Make everyone wear masks. -- J.D. Vance
